    Another nonupdate, despite on THURSDAY beach thing corporate sending me an email stating that I would have a reply in 48 hours, or two working days, I still have heard nothing as of tonight.

    And what are working days in garages anyway, they are open all weekend.

    I am beginning to lose my temper in a way that I would not have done if someone had only contacted me and said we are looking into this, or even just a sorry, we will make sure this never happens again.

    *considers contacting local media*
    Customer "why did you answer the phone if you can't help me?"

      I just caught up on all this. This is absurd and infuriating. They need to be exposed for treatment like this.

        The most infuriating thing is, it now being a week and a half since the incident happened, the more time goes by without them responding, the more likely it is the security tape has been wiped (I've worked in shops where the same two tapes were used and kept being wiped), or else the cashier will not remember what happened, or .....

        maybe that's what what they want?

                I'm not big on complaining either... and I certainly never want someone to lose their jobs. But quite honestly, the second he insulted you in front of the other customers you should have called the store manager and made a complaint right there.

                If he treats ANYONE that way, he is obviously in the wrong profession. I know we all have our days when we hate our customers, but we are professionals and know how to keep our tempers to ourselves.

                      Your local newspaper probably has some sort of consumer help column. This is ideal for these sorts of issues.

                      In my local paper, the San Jose Mercury News, its called the action line section.

                      Companies reeeeeeeally hate being in the newspaper when they're involved in that section.

                        An update of sorts

                        last week i phoned beach thing corporate and they said they would email the relevant person and ask them to respond to me urgently, of course no response.

                        on monday this week i again phoned them and they said they would make sure they phoned me by this morning.As it is now lunchtime, i firstly tried a different approach, I phoned the garage in question and asked to speak to the retail manager with the intention of asking whether he had actually been asked by coporate to contact me (I am well aware that sometimes messages do not get through).

                        I was thoroughly disgusted by the conversation i had which went like this

                        *someone picks up phone does not give any greeting "yeah?"
                        me - is this xxxx garage? can i please speak to a manager?
                        person - yeah?
                        me - Can i speak to a manager?
                        person - "yeah?"
                        me - do you mean you are a manager?
                        person "yeah"
                        me - "i'm calling about a complaint i made and i'd like to ask."
                        person interrupts me "i don't understand you"
                        me - "i'm calling about a......."
                        person "i don't understand"
                        me "i'm calling.."
                        person"naaaahhhhh don't understand"
                        me - "you are doing this deliberately" *I hang up*

                        I call corporate beach thing and relay the contents of that conversation to them
                        corporate tell me that they have been trying to get a response from the retail manager for the past three weeks, i lose my temper and say

                        "from the conversation i just had with him it is perfectly obvious he does not give a flying fuck about customer service and has no intention of answering yourselves or myself directly"

                        To her credit, she ignores me swearing and says she will ask a senior executive to call me some time today.

                        I reply that if this is not done my next step will be to involve the local and national media as well as reporting fraudulent sales practices, and they have till 5pm tonight to call me.
                        Customer "why did you answer the phone if you can't help me?"

                          Was it the same asshole on the phone that you dealt with in the shop, or could you tell? I'm just curious if it's a one man operation, or if all the employees are rude, stupid scammers.

                              new update, I just recieved a phone call from a senior manager apologising for the delay and saying it will be resolved as soon as possible.

                              Now I'm not sure that gets us any further forward.........
