  • "I am 45 years old & I do not want to walk"

My co-worker told me about this incident Tuesday night during her shift when Visitor Parking was reserved for an event sponsored by the President's office.

The particular customer was heavy set. She arrived wanting to park & go to the Admissions office. Since Visitor parking was reserved, she told her she could not let her park. The female customer then said "but I drove an hour & a half to get here, I am 45 years old, & I do not want to walk."

So my co-worker gives her other parking options.

The female customer returns & tells her she cannot find a parking spot. My co-worker apologizes, but she tells her she cannot park in Visitor Parking because it is reserved for an event, & she gives her other parking options in addition to what she gave the first time she arrived.

The female customer returns & tells her "I cannot find any parking. You need to call your supervisor." She does that, & "Missy" answers the phone. She tells her why she is calling, & she has the female customer speak to her. "Missy" tells her she has to find other parking. She leaves.

Yeah...b/c 45 year olds are old and decrepit..... (that was sarcasm....before anyone yells at me...lol)

Walking is healthy. And if she was just sitting in the car for 1.5 hrs, her legs could use a stretch.

Some days I think I'll be decrepit by the time I'm 45 with my stupid knee, then again I refuse to actually be tested in case there's actually something wrong. Honestly though, unless she had some physical reason where walking is a problem I feel no sympathy.
How was I supposed to know someone was slipping you Birth Control in the food I've been making for you lately?

Actually, given that she seemed to be trying to imply that being 45 years old was a reason to not be able to walk, I have a lack of sympathy even if she does have a physical disability. If you're going to try to hide it, then you can fake being well just that little extra bit.

I may only be 25, but I've about 60 pounds overweight, and pivoting on my knee to bag groceries for six months has pretty much destroyed my knees. Amtgard finished them off.

I'm still willing to walk the three miles to work. I just hate giving up an hour of my time each way to do it.

I don't mind walking....IN fact, I remember a few times where I take the further spot and get into the store quicker than people who drive around the lot looking for the prime spot.

I'm 44, overweight, and I hate walking long distances too.

But I don't whine and cry about it when I have to. Instead, I remind myself that I can use the exercise, bad knees or not.
They say that God only gives us what we can handle. Apparently, God thinks I'm a bad ass.

...and I'm 46 and *I* don't want to hear you whine like a spoiled child!

                grrr.
