  • 2:30 in the morning!

Now that it's warmed up, I have one of our bedroom windows cracked open at night. At 2:30 this morning, I'm woken out of a deep sleep totally confused. I didn't know where I was, what day it was, what time it was, etc. All because a bunch of drunken neighbors are outside yelling and cheering. It's 2:30 in the freakin' morning! And it's coming from the apartment complex next door. DH tells me to close the window and as I do so, I say "don't they realize all those windows they see are where other people are sleeping?"

I don't know why management hasn't done away with these people. They've certainly had reason, and I was the source of one of those reasons once. They've been sucky neighbors for years. And I knew it was from that apartment because I know one of the voices (belongs to I-popped-out-a-bunch-of-babies-as-a-teen-and-didn't-raise-them-right-and-now-I'm-raising-my-grandchildren-because-mom-is-dead-and-they-are-popping-babies-out-as-teens-too party grandma). I wanted to call the cops, but then it would quiet down, then get noisy again. I did go and flick the back flood light on and off an that made them stop for a moment.

But OMGosh! Don't people have respect anymore? Stupid question, especially about these neighbors.

And I would take a small bit of revenge that there is another neighbors yippy little dog barking non-stop on it's balcony, but I just heard party grandma talking very loudly in the parking lot again. Apparantly she's done sleeping off the hangover.

Don't wait: just call the cops.

And management probably hasn't done anything because too many people do what you did: Whine about it to people you know and not call anyone.

Because, you know, someone else will take care of it, right?

      [edit to add]
This isn't supposed to be a dig or accusatory. It's just a very common social problem when you have more people around you than you can keep track of.

Or Theresa Saldana. Thankfully, someone did help her.

We actually just recently went over that phenomenon in my psych class. Diffusion of Responsibility, I believe it's called. My example was being taught in First Aid certification to always assign a person to call 911, as if you say "someone call 911", odds are no one will because they all think someone else did it.
Those who are loudest about their qualifications, tend to have the least merit to their claims.

Yup. I was going to add that to my post, but I didn't think of it till it was too late.

And that is why I get really anxious any time I can hear any yelling at all (or anything that sounds like yelling).

Last Saturday morning, around 2:30 as well, there was something going on at my complex as well. They were just a bit too far away for me to tell what was going on, but in the parking lot my bedroom window looks over (quite a way away actually) there was a cop car with flashers and someone shouting and arguing with the cops. There was a second cop car without flashers and a tow truck.

I never found out what happened, but I suspect a drunk drove home at the head of a cop train, resisted arrest and got his truck towed for his trouble on top of everything else.
