Just a note, but standing at a concert mucks with the accoustics around you. Badly.

I was at a Rush show, on the floor, and nobody sat the entire freaking time, and my knee wouldn't let me stand, too, so I had to put up with shit for sound for the entire show. Left me really, really pissed.

    ^-.-^
Blame the sound guy for that. He obviously had no idea how to run his board if he couldn't tune the room for a crowd. Granted, some rooms are harder than other to get good sound for, but someone who knows what he's doing can get it right during sound check for when the crowd is there. Could have also been the system. I'm not sure what Rush tours with since I've never worked for them.

None the less, sound guys are trained to know how to make the room work with crowds. Some guys are just better than others. I can sit here for an hour naming off shows that sounded horrible simply because their sound guy was a moron.

Oh, I know all about that part. I was at a Guns 'n' Roses show (was there for other bands) and their sound must have been run by a retarded monkey who fell off the wagon.

However, what I'm talking about is the fact that the human body blocks sound, and 50 human bodies will block an awful lot of sound, etc. The only way to get around that is to have speakers directly above the crowd, and I've never seen that.

I was at a Ted Nugent and ZZ Top concert. Ted Nugent just had a ton of amps and it sounded way too loud and distorted. ZZ Top however ran their sound through the areana's sound system and it sounded completly differant, really crisp and just the right volume

Worst concert I ever attended was Vince Gill; not his fault, he was great. It was the drunk woman behind us screaming in our ears, "I LOVE YOU VINCE! SWEETPEA I LOOOOOVVVVEEE YOOOOOOU!"

          For two hours.
Or you could have had Vince Gill do something like this:

If you listen close you can hear her. And this was an acoustic set where he wasn't using ear monitors so....yeah.
It's floating wicker propelled by fire!
