  • Hot Topic Bitch

Today I had a run in with the Hot Topic Bitch as I've come to call her. She's the manager up at one of the local Hot Topics and she treats me like shit every time I go into the store. It started out after I put in an application a year ago. No clue why. It's gotten to the point that I don't go there if she's working or I go to a location further away.

Lately me and my grandfather have lunch once a week and we usually end up at the mall that this woman works at to walk off lunch. A few weeks ago I bought a belt at Hot Topic for an interview I had later that day, it ended up not fitting right so I didn't wear it. I took it back today or at least tried to.

    Me: tada
(HTB) Hot Topic Bitch: the bitch

Me: Hi, I'd like to return this belt.
HTB: You mean you want to exchange it.
Me: No, I'd like to return it.

(This right here pissed me off. If I wanted to exchange it I would have said so.)

Me: (takes out the belt and the receipt) It didn't fit me right.
HTB: (rolling her eyes and then looks at the belt) I can't take this back it doesn't have a tag on it.
Me: (points at the hangy thing) yeah but this is how I bought it. Steve (yes I know one of her workers) had to go grab another belt to ring it up because the price tag was gone. I do have the receipt. (holds it up since she had pushed it aside when I set it down with the belt)
HTB: Well I still can't take it. There's something on it. (holds it up pointing at something I can't see) I can't take anything back that I can't put on the shelf. Okay? You'll have to just deal with it.
    Me: Fine whatever.

After that I put the belt back in the bag with the receipt and left. I've decided that I'm not going back to that location. I might not even go back to a Hot Topic again other than to try taking the belt back to a different one. I'm not going to hold onto a belt that doesn't fit because some bitch has something against me for no reason.

There was one high light to the day. I went into Spencers and the woman there was wonderful and helped me pick out two awesome shirts. ^_^

You should contact the DM of the store. I hear that a lot of them go absolutely berzerk when a customer comes to them directly with being treated poorly at a store like that.

Maybe you should let Corporate know?

Generally I like Hot Topic. I don't like the other customers (daw, lookit the chibi goth-dorks! ....uh.....dude, you're doing it wrong....you're, what 12?), nor half the stuff in there (too short to buy a coat, feet's too little to buy shoes).

But it tends to be dark and cool and it's hella better than Aeropostal (I'm not even gonna look up the spelling, the music n their stores are DEAFENING).

I try to not go in there without my head phones in, so as to drown the inane conversations. I truly do feel sorry for the people who work there that have to listen to that ALL DAY. I wish I could buy cookies for every (nice) cashier that works at every Hot Topic in the world, but sadly I can't.

I'm going to play devils advocate here and ask, is there a reason you didn't try the belt before you purchased it to see it if fit?

I am in no way condoning her behaviour, it sounds like she is a real peice of work who should not be allowed near customers. (or small children, or animals, or anyone really....)

              I am simply curious?

With how the belts are hung up with their tags and stuff I wasn't able to buckle it or even get the end of the belt near the buckle but I did put it around my waist and it looked like it would fit. It ended up being a few centimeters short from buckling which is why I'm trying to take it back. I was also in a bit of a hurry since my interview was in an hour and I still needed to go to Walmart to buy a few items and change into my interview clothes.

I'm with the others about contacting Corporate.

I go into the one over here by me. Besides being decidedly older that they're target and not usually dressed like the people that work there or most of the other customers, they've never been anything but really nice to me.

Try being the girlfriend. One of my ex's (my "what the hell was I thinking" ex that's 11 years younger than me) was trying on some clothes, wanting something that was punk. Me telling what he was trying wasn't punk, him telling me I don't know what punk is. Here's the best part of the convo:

Me: Ok, I don't know punk. Do you know who Generation X is?
                    Him: No
Me: The band that Billy Idol was in in the mid-70's
                    Him: Yeah, well....
Me: Remind me again how old you were in 1977? Oh, yeah, ya weren't born yet!

Funniest thing, his mom was sitting right there about to bust a gut laughing and egging me on for taking him down a notch!

Now you see part of the reason that lasted about 3 months.

Buying punk clothes at Hot Topic is about as unpunk as you can get.

Three months? Wow, that's impressive. Usually my bad relationships are done in a couple weeks.

I went all of one month with a guy who was twelve years older than me. >_> I'm embarrassed about that one. Not because of the age thing, but because he was just not an easy guy to be around.

Kind of a lame punk band.

But then I'm more into Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Discharge, stuff like that.

Bet I could make him shit his pants by playing him some Deep Wound (which has me convinced J Mascis is as good a drummer as he is a guitarist, because you have to be pretty talented to play blastbeats).
