yes, don't be afraid to lodge a legitimate complaint, red; the 'manager' was not providing any kind of service, period. you had the right to return it and while she can ask why, she can't tell you reasons to deny it without there being a policy in place to back her up.

the other side of the counter goes dark, too, it seems.
    look! it's ghengis khan!
Sorry, but while I can do many things, extracting heads from anuses isn't one of them. (so sayeth the irv)

Three months? Wow, that's impressive. Usually my bad relationships are done in a couple weeks.
Yeeeah, I got into one of those "I can fix him" loops. Even his own mother got mad at him for treating me bad. I stayed friends with her and his step-dad.

Irv - the problem was he didn't really know what punk is. He thought Godsmack and ICP were punk. (I got drug to a Godsmack concert here even though I couldn't stand them. Although I do admit that I like "Voodoo", but that's only because of the drums.) I suspect that he wouldn't have know who the Clash were, either.

Now I admit, I don't really like Gen X, but I love me some Billy Idol. And I'll take the Ramones any day.

I just sent out an email using one of Wagegoth's links and will update you guys when I get a reply.
Can't wait to hear the results. And remember, a properly worded complaint about a real problem isn't sucky, so don't feel bad about doing this.

BTW: I've also tried to buy a belt but couldn't tell if it would fit because of the little plastic things they put on the buckle. Those things won't let you actually try the belt on and taking them off at the store is a no-no. Even if the belt fits, if you get home and try it on with the outfit you plan to wear it might either not look right or not sit right. If you haven't damaged it, haven't worn it, and have the receipt then there's no reason it shouldn't go back to the store for a refund.

Personally, I like the idea that the manager would take the belt back for an exchange, but suddenly found nitpicky reasons why she wouldn't do a refund. She's acting like the money for the refund is coming out of her own pocket.

I haven't gotten any word back from Hot Topic's corp. offices, but I was able to return the belt at a different location than the one I bought it from. It was a pleasant experience and a complete 180 from the other store. The woman who did the return was nice, asked if I'd like to look around in case I found something I'd want to buy instead, and when I told her I just wanted to do the return did it with out coping an attitude.

I may go back to that location when I need a new pair of Tripp jeans. I've looked online and they're at least 10$ more expensive to buy them on Amazon or other online stores not including shipping and handling. I love me my Tripp jeans so Hot Topic will have my patronage for that sadly.

It seems to me that if the service at the other store was good, then there's no reason to punish the company for the actions of one sucky manager. Just make sure they know that they have a problem with that manager, then take your business to the new location.

Definitely. One person shouldn't turn you away from the whole company. Give the email a few days, then call customer service to follow up if they don't contact you.

Truthfully, all I usually buy at Hot Topic is the Tripp jeans. The quality and selection of clothing has gone down hill since I started shopping there. I'd much rather go to Spencers for my tshirt and jewelry needs.

Been about 3 weeks and I have yet to hear a reply from corporate. So much for caring about their customers and the attitude and disservice of their management.

Write directly to the VP. If it gets forwarded from his office it's likely to get a real response.

I normally go online when it comes to Hot Topic shopping. they have exclusives, bargain bins, and a ton of stuff I can't find in the stores.

That and the only Hot Topic around where I live is a two-hour drive there and back. Minor detail.

I was actually able to find the email address for the VP so I emailed her directly. I figured it was worth a shot. Thanks for all the advice wage goth.

                        UPDATE

I just received a reply to my original complaint from the Sales VP (different one than I sent the above email to). Evidently someone got their arse chewed out for not replying to customers in a timely manner.

                          check out www.infectiousthreads.com and www.angryyoungandpoor.com

both pretty kick ass clothing sites that me and my gf order from now and again.

well if you're not adverse to ordering things off the 'net.

just a suggestion. and on the plus side no bitchy manager (at least any time i've emailed em with any issues i've always got a quick, professional, NICE response lol)
