  • Don't tell us the final is on one thing, then make it on another!

So our professor told us ahead of time that for our final we would have a choice between writing on one of two films we saw in class. The day of the final -- whoops, she changed her mind. We now have to write on both films.

Yes, technically I should have seen both films, but I missed the screening of the second film because I was stuck in Madrid due to a canceled flight. I figured it wouldn't be worth my time to seek it out and watch it, and instead focused on preparing for writing about the other film. Had I known we would have to write about both, I certainly would have spent the time to study for it!

Ugh damn that sucks. Maybe you could go to the Dean or some other higher up about that? It's one thing for a prof to change their mind, as long as they give adequete time for the students to adjust to it. (or if they decide to remove elements from consideration). If you don't have anything in writing about the original Final coverage options, then check with your classmates to back you up.

I second what Jetfire said. Changing the final requirements ON THE DAY OF the final is NOT COOL. If she has it in writing somewhere that the final is supposed to be "one or the other" and not "both" then take it with you to the Dean, and explain everything you told us. Madrid, flight, last minute DAY OF Finals change... Any Dean worth their salt will not be happy, and will at least make some effort to help you out.
