  • Incident at Jack in the Box

Last night Mom & I went grocery shopping & to Jack in the Box to use some coupons.

We went to this particular location last year. She went through the drive thru, & I went inside. The place smelled awful...like someone mopped the floor with dirty water. There was another customer there, & she said the place always smells like that. A complaint was filed through their website. The district manager called my Mom at home. She spoke to him about the problem (I had told her about it). He sent us some coupons to use, & he said he would look into the problem.

Then last night Mom went through the drive thru at the same location to use a coupon, & I went inside to use another coupon. The place did not smell awful. There were 3 employees working. The girl working the drive thru was also in charge of waiting on customers at the front counter. I noticed she was talking on her cell phone while working. She would end the call to take the customer order (either at the drive thru or at the counter), but then she would call the person back.

Then Mom told me about what happened when she tried to place her order. She waited at the speaker where you place your order. The girl working at the drive thru was probably on her cell phone while Mom was waiting at the speaker because she had to drive up to the window to place her order. Mom told the drive thru employee she had been waiting at the intercom for a while, but no one took her order. The drive thru employee told her "you did not wait long enough." Then it took a while for her order to be made. She was told to park up front. Eventually she received her order.

Oh good grief. That is a HUGE peeve of mine. As annoyed as I get when customers can't disengage themselves from their cell phone, it's dwarfed in comparison to having an employee ignoring you so they can talk on their cell phone and/or text.

Complain. Be polite, but make it very clear how outrageous that behavior is. There's probably some policy in place, but clearly it isn't being enforced. My local dollar store used to have an employee that would stay on her phone non-stop. A Bluetooth is not for when you're at work.
A lion however, will only devour your corpse, whereas an SC is not sated until they have destroyed your soul. (Quote per infinitemonkies)

Jack in the Box you say? Brave girl.

I believe the DM should be involved once again.

In fact, I think a couple of customers should contact the DM about the shitty service. You count as one customer, your mom as another. You waited for order taker to end a personal call before you could place your order, and it's obvious the shitheels in that place "retaliated" by making mom wait.

        No bueno.
