    not qdobas around here

im still eagerly awaiting the states first Sonic, i think they finally "broke ground"

of course, the wait will be even longer, and it will probably be very busy for a while since its the only in the area
My best friend is learning how to roller skate so she can get a job there, she wants yummy discounts.
Want to go with me and place bets on her making it to the cars with the entire order?
And yes you would stand in line on a nice day, if there were awesome cars along the way to look at. Silly Squirrel girl.

We have Chipotle, Qdoba and Currito all within a short drive for lunch from my office. Unfortunately the burrito place I *really* like isn't nearby: Moe's.

But wait in that long of a line for a free burrito? Not a chance. Not even from Moe's.
After living in CA and then moving away from fresh authentic Mexican, it was definitely a struggle to find something even remotely close to the Baby-sized burritos. Moe's was the solution for my Dad and I.

I think that burrito was on the Chowdown Countdown on Travel Channel!

Anyway, I would definitely not wait in line that long for a free burrito. I would rather go home and make it myself.

I completely forgot a Sonic was coming here. Meh....not too interested, but if in the area I'll go.....the commercials are telling me to.

On a funny note, I asked my bf if he wanted go to a locally popular seafood joint, and his eyes lit up. I no longer eat seafood, so he thought we couldn't go there. HA....they stil have yummy fries (and actually have malt vinegar for them!) and I need a 2010 t-shirt.

I'm not a fan of Baja Fresh; I prefer Qdoba. But I'm strange in that I hate hate hate cilantro (it's so bitter!), and Baja Fresh seems to use it in EVERYTHING. At least at Qdoba I can get salsas that don't have it.
I must be strange, too. I detest cilantro, and in Texas, it's hard to avoid.
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

See, this is where I freely admit to being a bit of a snob and a purist. I have a hard time with steak on burritos. Pretty much anything outside of beans, rice, cheese, and salsa I don't like. Mainly because burritos were originally peasant food and where was a peasant going to get steak? They were lucky to have cheese sometimes.

And Sonic's are kind of like cowpies, we've got 'em everywhere.

Primer, I'm with you. I'm not really a fan of cilantro either!

Sonic? I haven't been to a sonic in years ...

Do they still do the carhops on skates?

I might be down for a visit to Sonics, though I am hitting Germany in July and wont be around for much of the month.

Actually there had been a Sonic over by Foxwoods, that had closed just before Foxwoods opened, call it 88/8ish.

I can remember them tearing it down shortly after Foxwoods opened.

The reason why I like the steak on them is because you can get hamburger meat on a burrito anywhere else you go. Steak is rare to come by unless you're at a place that specializes in mexican or tex mex food.

Also, the area that I grew up in had the taco trucks and the burrito places that served Brain Tacos (no I never got the courage for one, but did have the Tongue)

We're finally getting a Sonic in my neck of the woods! Whee! Ok, not all that close, but still.... Now to see if they're as good as I remember, and if they can come close to Swenson's. I swear they cook their burgers on a block of crack....

I like Currito because they have both white and brown rice, as well as a number of different toppings.

As for the cilantro haters, Qdoba will do cilantro-free rice if you ask. My wife does it all the time. And Moe's doesn't add cilantro unless you ask for it. Mmmmm... Homewrecker....

                              Now I'm hungry.....
