That "internet piracy" is responsible for declining theater sales is ridiculous, and I hope I'm detecting a LOT of sarcasm there
I pirate, openly - if I like what I see, I'll decide whether I'm willing to put up with the garbage that goes on in theaters and / or whether I'll wait to buy the DVD.
That said, I went to see Avatar in 3D at Imax a while back.. and the movie stopped FIVE times in the first three minutes.. 20 minutes later, a manager finally popped in, saying "it'll be just a minute".. 20 minutes after THAT, my wife and I walked out, demanding a refund.
The theater employees had the nerve to mutter and grumble over people walking out, one going so far as to say "it's not a big deal, *I'd* stay". While waiting in line, the manager came out to address the HUGE line of people saying "we got the movie started at the 10 minute mark", which didn't impress me at all.
When we finally did see Avatar (on DVD), it was with some amusement that I realized the ENTIRE backstory was contained in the first 10 minutes.. XD
To their credit, I was given free passes to the movie after I wrote a complaint. I still don't see what the big deal was. *shrug*
