So, I'm visiting my friend and helping him with some game design stuff, and when I get down there they decide to take me out to a diner. Well, never one to turn down free food, I agree and we go to a local diner.
At first, everything is just fine, the bread comes out along with the appetizer plates and all that. So the waitress brought out two plates instead of three, she laughed about it, quickly apologized and said she would go and get another. My friend, trying to be funny just says "Oh, don't worry, we'll just take it out of your tip."
His fiancé and myself immediately wince and facepalm and shoot him glares of death, at which point we lecture him on the finer points of acceptable points of humor with wait staff.
Now, I know he didn't really mean that he was going to dock her tip, but sometimes he says the darnedest things.
