  • Wherein EW Achieves a New Level of SUCK...

<disclaimer>I have no problem with "People Of Size". Regardless of how they got that big, they have special difficulties navigating the world due to their physicality. This post is not about the fact that this EW was fat.</disclaimer>

Went to WallyWorld today. On the way in I see a huuuuge woman waddling from a non-handicapped spot in the parking lot and into the store. She makes it into the store and snags the last electric cart before I could get to it. No problem, I've got my walker with me, so turn away to go on about my shopping.

As I head into the store, I see her drive the cart TWENTY FEET to the nail salon. She parks it right in front of the opening, completely blocking anyone else from getting in or out of the salon. She then proceeds to get a manicure and a pedicure!!!! I was shopping for about 45 minutes, and when I left she was still there, getting her legs rubbed down, the cart in front of the store where no one else could use it for upwards of an hour!

This EW may have trouble getting around, but she walked further from the parking lot than she rode from the electric cart parking to the salon! This was inexcusable. It was a busy day, with all the other carts being used by people who needed them. To claim one and hog it for almost an hour while you get pampered while sitting in a massage chair is just...... Maybe it's because I'm having a really painful day today, but I honestly can't find a word that adequately expresses my disgust at her thoughtlessness.

Frankly, i would have stolen it and put it back so someone who needed it (like you) could use it. That's just a bitch move on her part -_-

Ya know, she could have just asked if she could use it just to get to the salon, and I'm sure an associate or manager wouldn't have minded taking it back once she got there.

She doesn't get a free pass. No one gets a free pass to be an asshole and make things more difficult for others.

Leaving the cart where it blocked the entrance was indeed a jerk move and I understand your frustration that she wasn't going to need it for a hour or so, but would you have brought her the cart back in exactly one hour so she could do her shopping? Carts are first-come, first-serve and I "assume" she'd want to do shopping afterward and would need the cart. It sucks that the carts are taken up so quickly and (speaking from my own retail experience) there's always a few out of commission for whatever reason. I know this isn't the popular opinion and I'm sorry you went through this.

Could you have asked a manager for a cart? Many times customers will abandon carts in the parking lot (even with signs that clearly state not to) and a manager/stockperson might have found one for you.

I see no one has mentioned the possible fire code violation. if a fire happened the people inside the nail salon would have had difficulty escaping.

Thank Gods the Ex and I bought one of those Rascals scooters for her so she could have a decent scooter to ride on. (yeah it was a bitch to take apart and haul around in the car but.....)

I am sorry but a cart that is unattended in this situation would be fair game.
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

I also would have stolen it back/alerted the manager (especially to the fire code violation). Yes, the electric carts are FCFS, but the way I see it she relinquished her claim when she decided to tootle over to what is apparently her personal salon instead of shopping.

First Come, First Serve rules end once you take your butt out of the seat for an extended period of time. I'm not talking a trip to the bathroom or the dressing room: this woman was out of that cart for 45 minutes. And she wasn't even close to being ready to get back into it. If she needed it that badly to walk the twenty feet back to the entrance (and she didn't from the evidence of her walk from the parking lot), she could have had someone get her one when she was done in the salon. If she was going to go shopping after her little mani-pedi then she should have to take the same chances at having a cart available as everyone else. She had no right to hog something she wasn't going to be using immediately when it's meant to be used by the general public.

It's the equivalent of spitting on the last piece of cake so no one else will eat it before you can get back to eat it.

You should have just taken it at that point, quite honestly. It's not like it was her personal property to claim.
