Very true tropicsgoddess. I also agree with the person who said that guy should have been escorted out by security after he cussed out the nurse. I don't care how stressed out the man is, behavior like that should never be tolerated especially in a hospital setting.

I do feel for the nurses, because sometimes the doctors (who only see the patients a few times a week) set up the sucky behavior. When my husband was in the hospital, the doctors had a big problem with communication. They would change meds or once even gave him a blood transfusion without telling us about it first. So when the poor nurse came in with the new med/ blood transfusion we were shocked and wanted to know why hubby was getting it. Nurse also did not know- doctor had never spoken to her, he just wrote the orders. I remember feeling angry and very frustrated, but I knew it wasn't the nurse's fault and both hubby and I were careful not to act angry with her. Unfortunately, I know that some people will take their anger at the doctors out on the nurses. Not really an excuse to be rude, but I can see how it happens.

Amina, a guy like that, belligerent and just general assholey and old? I'd suspect dementia. Or a bee sting in his ass.

Either way, hope you feel better, and just chuckle when you think "hmm Vitamin H would shut him up!"

If only I were allowed to start squirting that at the visitors as well... LOL.. Ive often fantasized about creating Ativan gas and releasing it through the vents in patients rooms.

And Bunny...Im with ya. Seriously, the doctors barely communicate the plan of care, med changes or upcoming tests with the patients. Its frustrating when they start asking me questions when Im not entirely sure of the docs thought process so I have to guess or give them the most common answer which may not even be applicable to them b/c trying to read the docs notes are truly impossible. Even worse is when they order tests for something like ruling out cancer and THEY DONT TELL THEY PATIENT THEYRE LOOKING FOR CANCER, so the pt asks me why theyre having X test and I cant fuckin answer.
