  • I don't care. No, really, I don't.

I don't care if you smoke pot.

I don't care if you smoke pot on your stoop.

I don't care if you smoke pot on your stoop and get your dog high.

I don't care if you smoke pot on your stoop, get your dog high, and sit around doing nothing all day.

I care if your pot smoke works its way around the corner and hangs in front of my store to give me a goddamned contact high and make the entire front of the building smell like pot.

Stop it. Before I call the cops. Or tell the landlord. Or both.

I hate this SO much. Our next door neighbors smoke on the inside stairs right next to our front door and we used to get it leeching in. Roommate finally came up with the idea of using that weatherproofing foam on the inside of the door to block off as much as possible. Don't know if you're able to do anything like that if it's getting into the shop at all.

Now it's getting into the shop.

And the landlord is nowhere to be found. I'd like to talk to him or his wife before getting the cops involved.

Doesn't it figure, the one time I actually NEED him to be around, he's vanished?

Welp. Just heard from the landlord.

If they're smoking on the stoop again, I'm to call the cops. Woot!

i hate this too. not pot, cos no one around my apartment complex smokes pot
          but someone smokes regular cigarettes.

sometimes if i'm sitting on my couch by the window i can smell it.
and that pretty much annoys the hell out of me.

i don't care what someone else does with their lungs but... i'm at home. i shouldn't HAVE to smell it inside my own apartment.

usually i shove my fan into the window, facing out, and put it on high until the smell's gone

I had neighbours that made it so I couldn't have my windows open at night because they smoked so much. Can't stand the smell of the stuff, it makes me feel sick.

I believe this is one of those situations where your rights end where mine begin. I have asthma- cigarette smoke sets it off in the worst way if I'm exposed to it for long periods of time. Plus I just can't stand the smell period. I do all I can to avoid the smoke, but if I'm in an area where I can't move away then there is a problem.

When I was in college I lived in a dorm/apartment complex on school grounds. Smoking was prohibited inside the apartments. One day some idiot who thought the rules didn't apply to him decided to light up in his apartment during the evenings. Because the air vents were connected, the cigarette smoke flowed through all the apartments in the complex. After two evenings of this and getting sick, I complained to the office. I hate telling on people, but I was paying money to live in a smoke-free environment and I couldn't avoid the smoke in this situation. If the guy wanted to smoke, there were perfectly functional picnic tables outside.

So what is a person like me supposed to do, in smoking prohibited apartments, so that means I have to smoke outside, but I have a neighbor who refuses to get an air conditioner because he only likes "natural" air, yet he bitches and whines that smoke wafts into his windows?

Is there a way that you guys can coordinate times so that he knows when to close his windows while you are smoking outside? That is what I'd do in his situation if I couldn't afford to by an a/c. Or is he one of those unreasonable types where it is MY way or the highway? If it is the latter, you have my sympathies. Entitlement comes in all forms.

Blas, if he refuses to get an a/c, then it's his problem.

I don't bitch about my neighbours smoking in front of the building (my bedroom is the only set of windows on the front of the building, so all the smoke ends up hanging over my bed), but I do get annoyed at people who DON'T LIVE THERE sitting on the front wall drinking and smoking. I don't have an a/c in my bedroom, for a few reasons, but that's my problem, not theirs. I shouldn't expect them to go stand in the middle of the street to enjoy their cigs just because I can't filter my air.

And honestly, my neighbours are pretty good about keeping their smoke away from the building. It's the people who DON'T live in the building that are the problem, and they're usually the ones I'm yelling at.

The store's landlord is PISSED. Apparently these guys are living with one of the tenants (the guys aren't on the lease, one of them is the tenant's boyfriend), and they've been informed that smoking, drinking, and loitering on the stoop is Not Allowed, and is grounds for eviction. So me calling the cops on them is a Good Thing.

I get the feeling that smoke by itself is one thing, but when they're blatantly smoking illegal goods it's another, correct Kia? Any police coming in for anything are going to be suspicious and making inquiries, even if they were just shopping.

Absolutely, Raps. I'm kinda hoping one of my regular off-duties comes in for his weekly purchase at some point today (usually he's either Thursday or Saturday) so I can mention it to him and he can maybe do something about it.

Either way, next time I smell pot, I'm calling the precinct directly.
