This happened Last Night..
BG: Room 2 is a double room. One patient by the door, one by the window. /bg
Im at the front desk with another nurse. We're each doing our perspective computer stuff when an extrememely somber couple approach her. The man clears his throat.
Man: Excuse me. Im looking for the patient in Room 2 window, *Patient name*.
Other Nurse: Oh, okay, Shes still down in the ER. Theyre waiting for you down there.
Man: What do you mean?
ON: Shes downstairs? They need you to sign *paper* and then she'll be brought straight up here
Man: So, she hasnt been brought up here at all yet?
ON: No......
Woman thats with the man, bends her knees and crouches down and lets out an audible sign of relief and then stands... "THANK GOD!!!"
Me and ON:
Woman continues: Well, we walked into room 2 and saw the window bed was empty. We asked the patient in 2 door if she knew where *patient name* had gone and she tells us "Oh, she was here for a while but she passed away."
ON and I:
Me: Im so sorry. I assure you *patient* is alive. she'll be up shortly, but in the mean time go ahead and make your way to the ER so you can sign *papers*.
Woman: Omg, thank you so much. *departs*
Needless to say, when the patient did finally come up, we placed her in a private room.
Seriously?! WHo does that?!!?! And to top it all...This patient who told them their family member was dead is an old retired, nurse....
