Pumpkin lattes are good. This I know. Unfortunately this time of year there's too many good seasonal coffee drinks and not enough time to consume them all.

I'm waiting for Starbucks to reintro their signature hot chocolates, the salted caramel is fabulous and I love the hazelnut, too!!

I didn't write to METRO, guys. The blind passenger had already called them while on the bus after the Howler Monkey lady settled down.

PAGAN!! Gorgeous pics!! I miss the desert.

Erm...yeah, probably other stuff to comment on...but I'm tired and I forgot.

Personally, I'd rather have the peppermint mocha from Seattle's Best.

It has bits of peppermint candy on top.

I know this may sound sacrilegious, but...

Does that pumpkin latte come in decaffeinated?

(Can't drink anything with caffeine in it, for various medical reasons. This limits my choice in beverages to some extent. It also gives me practise in reading fine print in non-contrasting colors; e.g. on the Sinkist orange soda which says in yellow ink on an orange background that it contains caffeine.)

Shalom, I know exactly what you're talking about, went through that myself, the limiting caffeine.

As far as i know, you can order any latte decaf at starbucks. I think. I'm pretty sure, anyways.

And yes, Sunkist has caffeine. Fanta doesn't.

Be careful with decaf coffee drinks. It's not exactly caffeine free. Your normal 16 oz cup of decaf coffee can have up to 16 milligrams of caffeine. (A regular coffee can have around 85)

One thing about seasonal coffee drinks is that there isn't enough time to enjoy them all, and I also look forward to the peppermint mocha from Seattle's Best.

I actually encountered a cranky old woman howler monkey when I was in college and taking the bus because it was cheaper than a parking pass. Someone else got on at the stop in front of the campus, and they had an empty commuter cup. As you can imagine, the COW/HM said, "NO DRINKS ON THE BUS!" It didn't matter that the cup was empty, the sight of it offended her so much. She probably would have said the same thing if a mother brought her baby on the bus in a stroller, with a full bottle in the diaper bag.

exactly. sis can't even have decaf anymore. she's too sensitive to the caffeine.

There will be more. I'm going to either the Glodeo on Friday evening or the Mass Ascension on Saturday morning. Depends on what the weather does. We've already had two delays for the America's Challenge Gas Balloon Race because of it.

Kind of bittersweet this year. Richard Abruzzo and Carol Rymer Davis disappeared off the coast of Italy in the Gordon Bennett race.

Yeah, I'd heard they called off the search.

They're supposed to hang ristras on the Wednesday lift off, right? Is it just two balloons, one for each, or are they doing more?

And if it were my choice, do the Mass Ascension!! *winkwinknudgenudge*

Well, the official search as been called off.

I don't know if maybe they did that after Dawn Patrol went up, but there were lots of balloons up this morning for Flight of Nations.

Oy, I do walk into these sometimes....

What's making it more fun this year is I'll be be going with someone who's never been before. She just moved here in July from Phoenix so she's a real newbie!

Wow, a service snake... that's awesome.

My sister has a companion animal dog who warns her of impending blackouts. Makes her sit down and actually gives her a hug (well, as best a dog can manage, paws on the shoulder, leanin against her and everything) till she calms down enough that they don't trigger.

How do you teach a dog to detect impending blackouts anyway? Have an actor pretend to have a blackout and show the dog what to do when it happens?

Not to mention a snake. I wonder how they train a snake to do that? I wouldn't have imagined snakes had enough brains to comprehend being taught to do anything at all; perhaps this is an example of redirecting a natural snakish behaviour pattern in a way that's useful to humans. Or maybe snakes are just smarter than I thought.

My friend with fibro is training the dog herself, in that case all you have to do is teach the dog how to react when she senses the problems. (She's apparently also going to train the dog to nag her to take her meds. I'm still in awe of that.)

I know too, that dogs are able to smell chemical changes that we can't. I saw a news story recently about a family that has a dog that sleeps with the son, who has diabetes, at night and goes and alerts the parents if the kid's blood sugar starts going wonky.
