Posting in Sightings because it wasn't sucky to us (besides a bit of extra paperwork and police interaction)...the suck was mostly between these two guests (Sheldon, have fun with that one ).

Cast of Characters:
DG - Dumb Guest
SH - Sucky Hooker (again, Sheldon, enjoy!)
CW - Coworker

DG meets SH online. They're both staying here. Convinient, no?

DG does not actually pay SH for sex, but he lets her borrow his laptop. It's a rather nice laptop, and it has all the contracts and documents for his fishing business. Over $250,000 worth of contracts and permits. Can you see where this is going?

SH skips town with his laptop.

I walked into work today to overhear the following:

CW: You did a stupid?
DG: I was just trying to be nice.
CW: Yeah, you did a stupid.
DG:

DG is still calling all his bosses and business contacts letting them know that he lost all those documents because he's an idiot. He's out in the parking lot, and I overhear bits of "I know, I'm stupid, this sucks..."

So his "free" one-night-stand ended up costing him his laptop and some very, very valuable contracts.

Better have been a damn good night to be worth it!

Would the guy have a case if he brought it to the police? I don't think the guy was trying to pay for sex, so he should be ok.

Well, there's some news:

UPDATE:

Apparently DG was contacted SH's "brother" who runs a "laptop refurbishing business" (family business, I wonder?). Words were exchanged. Long story short, DG is supposedly going to have his laptop returned, though he doubts it will be in the same condition it disappeared from (probably with at least some parts swapped out). Dunno if he brought that new info to the police or not.
