Aha,I thought the name was familiar,it's from Absolutely Fabulous
Her mother wouldn't have given a damn where she went. She'd be too drunk to notice.

Then again, that's everything but the name of the mother in the OP. Curiouser and curiouser...

Wait, letting the child make the "choice"......what stupid daytime armchair show was this from, or is this a new level of that new-age psychologically-connecting with your child to raise them bullshit?

The same one we'll see the kid on in about ten years, being all "Whatevah! I do what I want!"

Count me among those who love to hear the employee comback of "I do have kids."

Wait...wha? Let the child CHOOSE to come to you? If I let Khan CHOOSE what he wanted to do all the time, he would have put out both his eyes and broken the Wii and snapped his neck and killed the cat and fallen down the ravine in the back of the house...

I get the 'you must not have children, you are so mean' all the time. My response is 'I am unforetunately barren and would prefer not to discuss my childless state.' Ususally it makes the conversation sufficiently awkward enough to dissuade further whining in that vein.

Good luck with the kiddy people, I will continue to spend stupid amounts of money on my pets...

No, I forgot that first he would have crawled into the fireplace and impaled himself on the metal rack that holds the wood.

I would have called social workers to take care of this "mom" in a proper way.

I wonder, if I ever got the "you don't have children" thing, would I say that I do (I don't, but I have enough nieces and nephews to pretend) or would I attempt to make them feel bad by saying I can't? (Not that I know that...all I know is that I'm 31 and don't have my own little minions yet.)

Since you're in the UK,I say little Saphron (or it could be Saffron, the spice) is a chav-in-training.
I was going to say the same thing!!!

I've gotten the "Well wait until you have children of your own" remark many times because I'm not that old (early 20s). I love the looks on their faces after I tell them that the children I raised are now 14 and 15 and would never dare behave like that.

My coworkers get a good giggle and if asked, will verify that I have raised two boys into their teens. What the customers don't know is that they are my younger brothers and my mom was a single parent for so long that I took over raising them while she worked. But I love to see their faces as they try to figure out if I just started very young or if I'm much older than I look.

                        I can see it now . . .

"No don't stop Child from crossing the street. He needs to choose whether or not to step in front of that SUV. The first three didn't learn, we have high hopes for this one!"

And I, for one, don't really think the words 'pub' and 'family' go together all that well. It's just a bad idea. Unless all members of said family are of age.
The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

Why do parents feel the need to be friends to their children? From 0 to 18, they need a parent...after that there is plenty of time for friendship.

Anyways, I would hate to see how I would react to that since I'm getting a shorter fuse these days.....

And what if darling Saphron (Saffron? Like the spice?) decided to go play in traffic?

Because two year olds have the capability to make rational decisions! Seriously, does she think the kid would ever come back? She'd probably wander out into the street eventually. Child services, anybody?
