that's why you set up a VM for your porn-browsing needs. If you're paranoid about the other users of the machine, it reverts to snapshot on shutdown. If you're paranoid about what kind of crap it will load on your system, build a linux VM (and snapshot in a known safe state, in case they start loading rootkits).
No, I would know nothing about that (though legitimately, the VM on my machine is for iTunes as they have no linux client, not for porn. Really.)

no, but from what i can gather... some of the things they reported weren't that far off.

Well at least it's not "The tech, the Grandmother and one cup". :-)

Quoth ShinyGreenApple View PostI busted my nephew for using my comp to look at porn once. He was smart enough to delete it from Firefox's history, but not smart enough to realize it would still show up if I used the drop-down button next to the back arrow. Oh look! Asian Schoolgirl Confession. Oh LOOK, there's a trojan on my machine now. Gee, thanks kid.

If I don't want someone looking up what I've been doing on, say, this site, I know better then to just click the X next to the site name. That, or use InPrivate browsing.
But, seriously......even granny is starting to become tech-savvy.

yeah but, with windows, you can still track it i think... gotta clear out a few extra files besides just the history, not to mention clearing the cookies too.

heh. i dunno.
my bf read me the whole post - turns out it was from a message board.
and apparently the grandmother story was one of the calmer ones.
the same tech was the one who found the kfc buckets and apparently it was chicken bones and rice, not just chicken bones.
thing is... KFC doesn't sell rice.
yeah. yum.
*hands you all some*

Quoth PepperElf View PostI'm assuming of course the grandson was in a shitload of trouble after that.

Well, you have to give the kid a little credit: He probably figured out that Mom and Dad were savvy enough to find the browser history, so he went to Granny' instead.

The Tech and the Grandmother - nsfw (adult text)
My BF has been telling me some of the stories from techs that he knows about nightmare trouble calls... ranging from a broken telephone turning out to have live roaches in the phone receiver, piles of KFC buckets full of chicken bones (that residents were apparently stockpiling for a long time)
and one... one story that had me - The Tech and the Grandmother
The trouble call was simple - an elderly lady wanted to get her computer fixed because it wasn't working so the Tech arrived to trouble shoot it for her. Oh and her grandson was on it a lot...
As far as I know the tech fixed it.
But I'm pretty sure the grandmother needed a vat of after the tech explained to her about "porn" and "shemale" websites & the risks involved.
I'm assuming of course the grandson was in a shitload of trouble after that.
