During the move, me, SO and MIL have been staying at the Red Robin Roof Inn for a few days until we got our utilities and internet turned on. While MIL was by the front desk, this SC was browbeating the clerk into giving him a king suite room for $60. The clerk kept telling him that the best he could do was $64 and no more and then the SC demanded to speak with the manager about not getting his price, but was told (which was true) that the manager was out of town. Then the clerk suggested to the SC (I forget the name) motel, the SC said "What?!! I'm not going in that dump!" The clerk then said to him "well that's the price you want to pay, right?" Then the SC stormed out.

I would have loved to see his face when the clerk went "Ok, that'll be $68 with tax"

Holy crap. $64 for a suite? I worked at a Travelodge in the early 2000's and we didn't even sell the suite for that price. I'm so sick of this "I'm entitled to the best room you have for the cheapest rate in the building" mentality that some guests seem to have.

No extra charge for the roaches.

Seriously, the one and only time I stayed at a Red Robin Roof Inn, the room had a major-league roach infestation. Let's just say the Gideon Bible got plenty of use that night.

This was in Kansas City, on the Vacation From Hell. Started out good with a couple days at Worlds of Fun. The rest of the time I was sick with some unknown ailment. I don't recall any sniffling or coughing or anything; just a bad headache, fever, and general lethargy that didn't clear up until we got back home.

I can hardly find a hotel room anywhere these days for $64, not unless it's roach infested with broken down air conditioning.
