I was doing my weekly shopping at bigger chain store this weekend. I picked up what I needed and got into line behind an irate woman.
"How dare you carry plastic bags? It's against the law." The clerk tried to explain that plastic bags weren't illegal, but she wasn't having it. According to her plastic bags were banned in California, she heard it on the news.
The cashier tries to ignore her as he rings me up. When he places my items in a plastic bags, the woman gets even more irate. She asks me how I can break the law like that? Don't I know how much trouble I could get into? Etc, etc.
Forgive me, I engaged the crazy. I tried to explain that only a few places in California have a plastic bag ban. Of course, according to her I didn't know what I was talking about.
"California does not allow plastic bags. They illegalized it. I heard it on the news." That's a direct quote. I decided to ignore her, grabbed my illegalized bags and left the store.
