EVE Online: 99% of the time you sit around waiting for something to happen, but that 1% of action is what hooks people like crack, you don't get interviewed by the BBC for a WoW raid.
When I lived in Yosemite, I found chili powder and chili oil around my planters worked on squirrels. I used to have a whisky barrel full of bulbs. They liked to dig them up and take one bite out of each of them. I did the chili oil, and the next morning I heard a squirrel with the deepest chirp ever...LOL. And they didn't bother them as long as I kept the oil on every month or two.
Anyone have any suggestions for keeping giant beavers away from my softwoods? I've reached the point of only growing things like lilacs and rhodos in the yard because maple, birch and ash are beaver magnets, and we've got some damn huge beavers here. The perils of living on a river, unfortunately. Aside from building a chain-link fence (which I definitely can't afford) I've run out of ideas.

For deer, a lot of our customers swear by Liquid Fence. I'm told that other brands do not work, but this one does. The packaging says it works on rabbits, but I haven't heard any customer stories about that. I live in an apartment, so I've never tried it myself.
I need a surefire squirrel repellant. They keep digging up our seeds and seedlings in the community garden.
There's actually a lot of plants that are deer and rabbit resistant. Plant those in among the others and it keeps them away. Lavender's one, and it smells good, too!

Gotta be careful with chile oil, though. Speaking from personal experience from one too many chile burns on my hands peeling it and getting it in my eyes once! If you do, milk, or any dairy product will help.
