Why we don't usually go to Ruby Tuesday's

But I got an Email coupon for $10 off 2 adult entrees so We figured "Why not, its been a while" so we went to the on in St. Peters by the mall. We got seated fairly quickly, and got our drinks. FMAFanatic got the Jumbo Shrimp Skewers and I got the 9 oz steak. She brought out a couple of biscuits and made sure our drinks were full while we waited. We soaked up their AC, I read some of my book, while she played with her iPod. After a while The manager was making the rounds, and she assured us that our orders were in the kitchen, they hadn't forgotten about us, and our meals would be out as soon as possible. We assured her that it was fine, as we were relaxing and soaking up their AC, using their WiFi , and drinking so take your time. They did bring out more biscuits, though they were slightly doughy, they were enough. We did think it was a little odd she was going around to everyone, but there can be any number of reasons for it, like the kitchen being slow because of a call off or something.

When our meals finally come out, I cut into My steak to see if its prepared correctly. I ordered Medium which should mean bright pink throughout, but it was past medium well to nearly well done as there was almost no pink at all in my steak. I let her know right away, and they said they would make a new one, and it wouldn't be a problem as she saw how it was prepared. While I waited I ate the sides that came with the steak. When the second steak meal arrived, the manager brought it out. Once more they asked me to cut into the steak, and once more it was overdone. It was done about the same as the first steak, almost no pink, and the manager quickly said "Ya that's Medium well at least." I told her not to bother with a 3rd steak, as I didn't feel like waiting, and just ate the steak as it was. The manager did comp my meal and my drink. We did tell the manager that this was why we usually didn't come to this chain, because we always seem to have problems with our meals. She assured us that they were working on quality control, our patronage was important, etc etc. and to please try them again.

When the waitress came at the end, she apologized again about the problems and told us that she thought the cooks were new, and if there was anything else she could do to make our visit better. We did ask for a couple of the carrot cake cupcakes to go (Yum) which she didn't charge us for. We did leave her a good tip as it wasn't her fault because the kitchen had their collective heads up their arse.

We did our very best to not be SC's about the whole thing. I suppose we could have been dicks and tried to get everything comped, but they were making an effort to make sure we were looked after, and that we were served as quickly as possible. They were polite so we were too, though FMA has said she will leave a comment on their facebook, so that they are aware that there is a problem.

    Important things to note:
    • The restaurant was half full and we had to wait for a table. Not a long wait, but a wait nonetheless.
    • It was 7pm on a Saturday night; the busiest night of the week and right before a major holiday. The parking lot wasn't even full.

I did leave a comment on their FB, which pointed me to their customer service page. So fine. I'll be calling on Tuesday (heh). I don't even want a gift card. I want them to know that it will be a long long time before we go back.

I have never ordered a steak from Ruby Tuesday since they screwed up the only one I ever ordered from them ended up so try and tough it was a joke. The server was an idiot who tried to tell me that steak sauce would fix it.

I have a lot of respect for you for still tipping the server. I don't think many people realize that penalizing the server for the cooks' mistakes accomplishes nothing, as the server is only the messenger, and while the cooks still get an hourly wage, the server will get screwed.

Thank you for being awesome about that!

As far as your problem goes, I don't think you sucked at all. I would imagine the cooks just didn't want to try to do their job properly and listen to how you wanted it cooked.

We do tip well. As long as it's not the servers fault, they'll get a good tip. We've always said, treat us well and we'll respond in kind.

There are places we've been that the wait staff remembers us and they bend over backwards.

Yup, and the same goes for delivery services. There's a reason I always get my pizza well before the time they estimate

              DaDairyDruid and FMAFanatic,

I'm in Arnold, which is a little bit south of St. Louis county..

Any restaurants that you do recommend? If you'd rather respond via PM feel free to.

              Thanks,

We really like Brick House in Chesterfield Valley. Good food, good music, and really cute waitstaff. For chains you cant go wrong with Red Robin or Cheeburger Cheeburger.

though I cannot stress enough DO NOT GO WITH THE "SOME PINK", option, and make sure your hamburger is cooked through, if you do order it "no pink".

Ironically both myself and a chemist at work have BOTH gotten e.coli 0157 from there.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

From Red Robin? I think that's become one of our default go to places besides Cracker Barrel.

If you do go with Red Robin, they offer a loyalty program card now. I think we have one more visit to go before we get a free meal.

We've never had any issues with Red Lobster or Olive Garden, though they tend to be places when we know we have the money to spend. Otherwise we go with less expensive alternatives. Cheeburger is a place I think we'll be going to soon.

Its funny how things are different. The ruby Tuesday in my area is always full no matter what day of the week it is. On a friday and a saturday we are looking at alteast a 1 hr wait. yesterday a day before a holiday it could be a 2-3 hr wait.

I sure did. I went on a date, he had never been there before, I've been going there a few times a year since the place opened a few years ago. Red Robin has never disappointed me.
