*sigh* ever have a day where you just feel like you are going to explode?

So my husband and I are having some MAJOR problems with our cable company. We have problems with this company every single month. My husband was on the phone with a customer service rep from our cable company and the guy heard me say in the background that I am disgusted and I want to switch to Direct TV now.

Here's where it gets interesting...

At that point the customer service rep told my husband he's the man of the house and my husband should take control of me and make the decision himself. Thank god my husband is a lovely enough man that he reported the cs rep to his superior for that sexist comment.

It kills me. I've worked in customer service for 12 years and if I EVER talked to a customer like that I would have been fired on the spot! But somehow this jackass still has a job.

I don't know, but he may not have it for long. The rep my husband talked to after this guy said what he said told hubby that most likely the guy will be fired.

Now look, I'm not one to make a habit of trying to get people fired from their job, but this guy was way out of line, so as far as i'm concerned, he deserves what he gets.

I've heard some stories of bad stuff, but this one nearly takes the cake! How old or young did the guy seem like on the phone. My initial thought was that he must have been behind the times and had a husband's mentality from the 1940's or something.

Good on Hubs for reporting the Sexist Guy to his supervisor. There is absolutely no call for that kind of talk. What was Sexist Prick expecting? That Hubs would commiserate and agree?

I really don't know, as I didn't speak to the guy myself. But hubby said the guy sounded like an Arab (I am NOT trying to be racist in anyway whatsoever) and that to them, it's normal for a husband to control his wife. That's the only explanation we can come up with, but that still doesn't make it right.

We get people coming to the door to sell stuff and always when I tell them that I will have to speak with my husband before making a financial descision I get countered with "What, you can't make your own descisions?!"

And that's when I respond with "We have respect for each other enough to confer over any major financial/medical/whatever descision."

It's really disrespectful either way IMO.
