I'm involved in a case being handled by 2-lawfirms working together, Firm AB&C and Firm FG&K. I've always been contacted by either Mr. A, Mr. F, Mr G or their assistants, so I know them all. The other day I got a very generic text on my phone from an unknown number saying "Hi, this is Mr. X your lawyer. I've just moved to a new firm. Contact me at ***-**** in regards to how this will affect your case." The only thing was, I'd never heard of a Mr. X being at either one of these firms. So I forwarded the text to Mr. A, the lawyer who is in contact with me the most, and left a message. He was very appreciative and said action was being taken. Apparently, Mr. X WAS a lawyer with FG&K, but broke-off to start his own firm. HOWEVER, he took along the client lists from both FG&K and AB&C and has been contacting all of the clients under the pretense of being involved in their cases, even those that he wasn't, and is trying trick them into making him their lawyer. He's getting contacted by the Bar very shortly. It's one thing if he told contacts straight-up that he's starting his own firm and would they like to hire him instead, but pretending that he had ANYTHING to do with my case is just out and out wrong.
