  • Can I watch you do it now?

So I popped into my local supermarket for a few things this morning. I'm in a pretty bad mood as I've had major sleeping problems and haven't had a chance to get to the doctors yet.

So after getting my things I can to the ATM that's in the store. As I'm approaching it, an older woman (50ish?) steps in front of me to the machine. Urgh whatever, not like I had my card out or anything...

So I back up a bit, but from where the cash point is placed (right at the end off the tills) there's always people trying to get past with trolleys and bags full of shopping. The only place to go was closer to this woman. I am completely aware people don't like others being close, but there wasn't anywhere else for me to go. I know she's glanced at me, so I read the headlines on the newspaper display next to me making it obvious I'm not looking at her.

She finishes and I move up to the machine. She comes up so close she's actually touching me.

"Can I watch you do it now?"
    I just looked at her
<shouting in my face>"I can't stand it when people are that close to me, when I'm trying to use the cash point!"

I replied that there was still space for a whole person in between me and her and if she hadn't noticed there was people constantly trying to get past (As they were still trying to do now she was in the way!)

I got a death glare and she stalked off.
I honestly felt like crying, partly because of the bad day, and partly because there was physically nothing I could do and I made a point of not looking towards her whilst she was using the machine.

She's a paranoid bitch, plain and simple. I have my moments where I feel the grip of fear when doing anything with my money, but you weren't leering over her shoulder or anything. Don't feel bad, if I could I would go through the computer and give you a sympathy hug. Can you settle for a cookie instead?

As long as it's dairy free, I don't fancy using my epipen tonight, although would be an extreme excuse not to do any work!

Just use the ever classic "Do you think I have a problem going back to prison?" line. In the right situation it really freaks somebody out.

"I wasn't watching you, you're not that interesting. But if you need a tutorial on how to use the ATM, go ahead."
When you start at zero, everything's progress.
