    WTF?

Is this the American medical system? Here in Oz when you are pregnant you are bulk billed for all neo natal appointments and you can get an appointment pretty much that week. I am just shocked about what your fiance has to go thru just to get a doctors appointment!

As for morning sickness, being that your fiance works in a pharmcay she should be able to get some really good advice from the pharmacist and a discount on the stuff she will need. Vitamin b6 is fantastic for morning sickness, so are ginger tablet that are generally merchandised for travel sickness. My personaly experience is that Gatorade has a fair amount of sugar in it which if she is dehydrated she should stay away from suggary drink altogether. Does she stock an electrolyte replacement product at work? Here we call it Gastrolyte/repalyte/hydralyte but that is the better one to use. Also if you can get it in an icy pole form its much better cause it will make her sip/slurp it and not introduce too much to her already sick tummy. Also those pressure point wrist bands are good for morning sickness too. If she does suffer further along in her pregnancy once past the first trimester she can use Maxolon (metoclopramide hydrochloride). It is available over the counter here but it is fantastic for morning sickness and hangovers!

Why isn't anyone doing anything about it?
Because, quite simply, no one can agree on what exactly needs to be done and how to pay for it. (And here I shall refrain from giving any opinion beyond that)
Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.

Hopefully by this late date you have had the necessary appointment and are under doctor's care. There is as usual, lots of great advice for you in this thread. The only thing I can suggest is to surf over to March of Dimes at marchofdimes.com Their entire focus right now is preventing prematurity and having healthy mothers and babies. The site is a great resource for information for anyone expecting.

I've worked with MOD for 7 years now, only in the money counting aspect though - I don't even pretend to believe I know anything about babies. Everyone I've run into through that organization is super focused on the mission and I would feel confident would offer any help they can to you.

I kind of freaked out when I found out I was pregnant because I was nearly all the way through my first trimester before I found out. I was just short of three months. Okay, so it took me a while to catch on that time. Sometimes I'm dense. And I hadn't been taking care of myself. In fact, I'd drank a bit...not a whole lot, because thank God one of the things I had a bit of an aversion to was booze. I would pour a drink, take a sip, and then not drink it because it tasted like battery acid to me. But I had drunk some rum at a party back the first month, and some Bacardi silvers during the third month. Also, allergy meds, among other things. I was pretty freaked out. The doctor said not to sweat it, that happens all the time and it's fine.

          It was fine.

Yup. She's looking for government funded medical assistance. That means they need something with a doctor's signature.

Now, all the doctor is going to do is count days, but he has letters after his name, so it's Official.
Sorry, haven't looked at this post for while. But the reason that I asked was when I went to get medicaid when I was pregnant with my son, a doctor didn't have to sign off on the due date. They just needed one for the records to start medicaid. They then told me that when I went to the doctor later they would change it, if need be. But that was in NJ, so I don't know about other states.
