    Reply on BMW lady

Man! That was one ugly bitchy lady you dealt with there. I'll bet you she isn't so tough if it's a man or woman with bulging muscles in a 4x4 pick up truck.

Although I've had my issues with parking space stalkers, I can't say I've had this problem before. I have dealt with people where the arrow is pointing in the directing I'm driving (in the aisle), and some rich Cadillac driving whore with perfect make up and globs of money will try to speed down that aisle in the wrong direction to nab a parking space. This lady did that one time to me, and luckily, I was at the end of the aisle where I was able to cut her off. She kept pointing to the handicapped space (she was in fine shape, I might add), and I just stayed until she backed up and went around. Again, SUV's have some power over little old ladies in Cadillacs.

Lately, for some reason, at my work, people are parking like @$$holes, moreso than usual. I know that there is snow on the ground, but that's even more reason (in my logical mind, at least) to park between the lines so you're not taking up multiple spaces, especially close to the entrance.
At university I used to work for, several students who drove some obnoxiously expensive cars Daddy bought them started parking such that the line was under the middle of their cars thereby taking up two spaces. That way no one would park next to them and "ding" the paint. There never had been enough spaces on the campus for all the students with cars, so parking already was scarce. These kids became the subject of much hatred.

Several of these kids found big scratches and obscene words etched in the paint on their cars over the school year. Many of the etchings referred to the owner in most unpleasant terms and sometimes stated that now the owner need not fear having the car damaged. The owners howled, but no one ever was caught. Security had little sympathy for the owners either, so almost no effort was made to catch whoever was doing it.

That's exactly why I was thinking the BMW driver in CSR Kim's story sure had some serious berries to piss of a crowd of people in a parking lot and then leave her BMW unattended.

I mean, I would be very, very suprised indeed if nothing were to, oh, say, HAPPEN to her precious car. Very suprised indeed.

        Just sayin'.

I thought the same thing that very day. I have never vandalized anyones property in my entire life, but I was so angry and unnerved by the whole experience, that as I walking back to my car the thought crossed my mind. My luck, though, I would have been caught. Or she might have MY license plate number. Good, responsible, common sense won over any vindictive feelings I may have been having at that point in time.

I'm sorry but that says a whole lot about the other students in the university and even more about the so called security IMO. Both were basically idiots, and made the kids with the expensive vehicles the sensible people.

I have to disagree with you, Kibbles. If you decide to take up multiple parking spaces, especially places where it's limited, you deserve the consequences. Be it a parking ticket or two, or having someone mess with your car. I'm not saying what the other students did was right, but if the "entitlement" crowd would have followed the rules like everyone else, it wouldn't have happened. Rules are in place for a reason. I always find it amazing when people break the rules...and then bitch and moan about the consequences. Don't want your car messed with or ticketed? Simple solution to that--park between the damn lines! I always park between the lines, and oddly enough, my car is left alone.

I'm sorry but it's one thing for the ones that feel entitled to get what they deserved like tickets, fines, or having their cars towed and impounded. But they most certainly didn't deserve to have their personal property destroyed or an incompetant security force look the other way while it's being done.

What happened to them is not deserved revenge, but I think it's amazing that it's almost implied that they got what they deserved. If they would have had their precious cars hauled away or fined, I would have agreed.

An Elegant Solution for Double Parking

Towing people out of a parking lot or garage is not always possible given the close quarter, but that doesn't mean that lot owners can't do anything about it.

There was a garage near the hospital where I used to work where they charged double if you took up two spaces. This rule was clearly posted at the entrance and they took photos of double parked cars to avoid arguments.

They also used their monthly pass customers as vigilantes. If you were the first one to report a double-parked car, you got some money off your next month's parking pass. If the double-parker was a monthly pass customer they got another day added to the next month's fee for every day they got caught. If they refused to pay, they were refused service. In a crowded urban area with tight parking, that was a real threat.

It worked pretty well. They went from having dozens of double-parkers a day to maybe 5 or 6 a week.

You can probably guess this wasn't a corporate-owned garage.
The best karma is letting a jerk bash himself senseless on the wall of your polite indifference.

The stupid is strong with this one.

Several lots downtown make you leave the keys after you pull the car in. That way, if you park like an idiot, they can, and will move your car...of course throwing a nice fine your way as well. Other places, they just tow the car. From what I've heard, it's a pain, not to mention expensive, to get your car back from a city lot!

In the 'burbs though, the problem isn't as bad. People still park like idiots though, even along the streets. Take my street, for example. Usually, the only people that park there are residents. Every now and then though, we get some overflow from the elementary school lot. For the most part, they stay down there. However, several neighbors have said that they've had cars towed simply because they were on the grass, or blocking someone's driveway.

I only just recently (September) got my license, so I'm not as brave or fearless as some more experienced drivers seem to be. That said, if someone stalks my parking spot and literally is so close that I have to inch out VERY carefully or risk swapping paint, I will just sit there until they go away.

When I rent a car, I usually get a Toyota Yaris or similarly teensy tiny car. Why? Because they're cheap, and I like teensy tiny cars. At CHristmas, my ex decided to rent me a car so I could drive the kids (and him) around, and they didn't have any teensy tiny cars left. So what did they give me? A Toyota Camry. EEK. To me, that's a BIG car. I couldn't "feel" the boundaries of the car, so I was really cautious, parking in the most deserted areas of the parking garages, etc.

This one lady stalked me at one point and came so close to the back of my car that I couldn't back out of the space. Literally COULD NOT. Then she started honking at me to get the hell out so she could park (ok, I'm in the FARTHEST row of spots from the door of the mall, and there are other empty spots around).

I ended up getting out of the car, walking over to her, and knocking on her window. When she rolled it down, she started swearing at me that she was in a hurry and I needed to get the eff out of the spot. I gave her an incredulous look and said "well ma'am, I'd love to get out of the spot, but you're IN MY WAY!" She told me off for making her late and FINALLY pulled away after I got back in my car and just sat there, not even turning the key. I see people do this ALL THE FREAKING TIME near my house. THey'll pull RIGHT up so that the person IN the spot can't really get OUT safely. UGH.

Those people I'd gladly mess with.

Unless you're caught in the act, there's nothing anyone to you if you vandalize their car. (Not that I'm suggesting you do something like that.)

It's mind-boggling that someone would double-park in a parking garage. Talk about inviting trouble.

Two wrongs may not make a right, but sometimes the second wrong may eventually keep the first wrong from happening.

Putting bologna slices on a car to fry in the hot sun eats the paint and leaves polkadots.

                            First post here........

Most cars days have sideview mirrors that are designed to flip flat against the window. Very useful for pointing out to mis-parked twits that not everyone is willing to let them get away with being a jerk....

*Many* BMW owners are like that. They *all* think that the world revolves around them, and that anyone not owning a BMW is scum. Because of that, it's no wonder why people think BMW owners are assholes. I can think of one reason why...they're still pissy because a certain car magazine said that the Mazda Protege has "BMW verve for half the price"
old BMW's are fun to drive actually, it's the new ones that get the assholes
because they're expencive, so it's always a rich old person driving it, thinking he/she own the road, same goes for Mercedes and Audi, the newer models, always a asshole driving it, not caring about other cars in traffic, because they paid more for their car, i hate luxury car owners.
