Okay of all the stupid ideas you could come up with as a teenager, trying to tamper with the safety systems on the TRAX rail system ranks up there near the top, right after jumping out of an airplane without a chute.
Yet there they were yesterday, trying to tamper with the crossing arms as a train was approaching... which, if you are going to do something that stupid, at least do it from the side AWAY from the track
Yeah, consider yourself damned lucky kid that the system is set up that any tampering with the crossing arms causes the oncoming train's brakes to engage.

Okay, so they wouldn't have been hurt (seriously), just a glancing brush that might leave some bad bruising and pissed pants.

yes they are VERY lucky.

the last time i read about students fucking around on a train... one of the youths ended up with two bloody stumps for legs... and that was BEFORE getting to the hospital

Having been on a train wreck (about 50 injuries but no deaths luckily) I can personally vouch for the fact that trains are not something you want to f*ck with!
