  • Make them both at once!

    Witnessed this customer suck at my local Dao of Sub.

    It was a bit late for a lunch rush, just before 2pm. I had just finished my Tae Kwon Do workout, showered, and was stopping in to grab lunch to go before heading to campus for an important meeting. When I walked in, I almost walked out as there was a short line, and it looked like the crew was in the middle of making a big order. They were, but they were making walk in orders around it, so I stuck it out.

    It actually did not take them long to make my order, no longer than it usually does and that's not very long. As the crew was finishing up my sandwich, a lady ahead of me in line began bitching at the cashier who was ringing up her order.

    SC: I want to talk to your manager. When ever I've been here before, they've made both my sandwiches at once, and this time you didn't do that.
    Cashier: Did you have more than one? I'm sorry . . . we're working on so many sandwiches right now, we didn't know.
    SC: That's not acceptable. You should have fixed both of mine at once. You kept me waiting blargle, blah, blah blah.

    This went on for a few minutes. The SC wouldn't let the cashier get a word in edgewise and I could see she was getting angry. The SC demanded to see the manager again. One of the crew had already called her.

    When the manager came out, the SC continued making as scene (holding up the whole line in the process btw) for several more minutes. She'd moved aside, so the line finally started to move. As I was leaving, the manger was giving the SC a free sub.

    The whole thing didn't sit well with me at all. I had hoped to say something to the manger before I left, but I was running late for my meeting, and the SC kept ranting on and on even after the manager apologized.

    I left campus after the meeting, and went back to the store to speak to the manager.

    Me: I just wanted you to know, that customer wasn't telling the whole story. Your crew did apologize, and she never asked them to work on two sandwiches at once. I don't think the customer was being fair. Your people work very hard, and give good service, which is why I come here so often.

    Manager: Thank you I do appreciate that. Our policy is to work on both sandwiches at once if there is an order for more than one, so I gave her a free sub. But I appreciate the kind words.

    It wasn't any of my business. But damn, I wish I'd said something to that SC. She'd made her fucking point.
    They say that God only gives us what we can handle. Apparently, God thinks I'm a bad ass.

    So SC gets rewarded with a free sub because the shop was busy. I wonder how long the SC was actually kept waiting for her sub.

      If it's anything like the shops around here, two minutes *tops*. But you and I both know that is equivalent to 20 minutes to sucktomers.

        Sounds like she knows exactly how to hit them.
        Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

          So she was in a big hurry but still had time to stand there and bitch endlessly?
          When you start at zero, everything's progress.
