  • Urrgghhh. I feel sorry for baristas.

Okay, this annoys the living shit out of me. Ever since I started working at a cafe, I know how some people are spoiled about their food or drink. I feel bad for Starbucks baristas, because I NEVER had a rude barista in any location in my town, and even with bitchy customers, they smile and joke and keep on going with positivity.

So I come up to order my drink. I admit I am a bit fussy. I dont like foam on my drink, tis all. But whatever. As I am ordering, a woman walks up with THREE frappucinos, and starts saying she wants her money back on two of them, and a remake of one.

Why? Cause she was walking all over not drinking it after she bought it, and it melted a bit and got just a bit more watery than she wanted. She was not there for at least five minutes. (I would know, she was very noticable and I waited that long in line.)

    GAH

Her attitude to these people were just disgusting. They were swamped, and I know this location well, the ask you to taste it so they can remake it the moment they pass it to you if they do it wrong. She obviously is just being a prat.

Sometimes I wish liquid had the power to rise up and smack people in the face. Including coffee.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

Is it against the rules to say what I'd do? I have told people off for treating service workers like shit, and I'll do it again. Even if it doesn't stop the asshole, it'll let the barista know that someone is on her side and this behaviour is not normal or acceptable.

I was bullied constantly when I was a kid, in school and out, and it would have helped enormously if someone (other than my parents) had said "no, this is wrong, you don't deserve to be treated like that".

It does have that power... it just sometimes needs a little help.

What makes me feel better is I tipped the barista as that bitch was going on about her drink, and in between pauses, I said aloud, "take it all, you deal with a lot of idiots and bullshit."

I would have been a bit more direct, but good for you for saying anything at all.
