  • I want my card!

I am totally annoyed with my bank right now. I lost my ATM card and I told them in Sept. that I'd like it shut off and order a new one. The lady said okay.

I waited like three weeks and asked again if it was coming soon. The teller said they'd been having problems getting them out. I had been able to buy things online with the "cancelled" card and asked why I was still able to.

Teller: Well, we can shut it off on our end but if you have it "saved" you can still use it. But don't worry your card is on the way.

Okay, I thought that was really stupid especially since anybody could've "saved" my card number on amazon or something and been buying a shit load of stuff. I later found out that I lost it at a grocery store and they held it for me but I didn't know that at the time.

Okay, another month rolls by and I am getting really annoyed. I called and must have gotten a manager who asks me who told me about the card being saved. I honestly didn't remember her name and the woman on the phone sounded like I was the idiot who made it up.

I went in there the same day I called and got the manager who told me once a phone is shut off, nothing should be able to be used.

The lady who told me was right next to her and agreed that it was crazy about not being able to shut it off completely. I felt like a huge liar even though the lady was right here! I should have thrown her ass under the bus and said: Her, it was her!!! But I didn't and silently fumed.

It's almost December. I still have no card and most of my bills online don't accept checks. I don't know what else to do. I've been calling and asking but I keep getting the run around. Normally I love this bank but right now I am angry!

I don't understand why you didn't say it was her that told yout his. And for the issue of the card - I'd go up higher - waiting 4 months is ridiculous. Threaten to close your accounts and go elsewhere and they'll get you a new card asap!!! Heck my bank can MAKE a new card right there if I need one!

Damn straight. Call their corporate number and demand the number for the district manager/regional manager. My former bank once deposited an insurance check into some random stranger's account instead of my own. Cue the runaround and the bank telling me I needed to give them "more information". I had proof positive the bank made a mistake, yet they dragged things on for months simply because they couldn't figure out which account was the accidental recipient of the deposited funds. I was finally so pissed that I called the DM and the issue was resolved that same day. Wish I would've saved myself a ton of anxiety by doing that at the beginning.

That's ridiculous! When my purse got stolen, my awesome credit union had a new debit card for me that same day. I had my new credit card in the mail within about a week. You've been waiting four months?!?! Major bank FAIL!

By the way they are full of s**t about your card number working if it's saved on amazon or something.

If the card number is closed or canceled, then it is NON-FUNCTIONAL. It can't be connected to your savings/checking account any more. It's as though the card never even existed.

It sounds like they were too lazy/incompetent to actually cancel the card #, so it is still active.....

QFT. I would have walked in and closed the account after a couple weeks. The bank obviously isn't working well enough to keep their affairs in order, why would I trust them with my livelihood?

So.. a slight update. I got so mad that I went to their website and left a very detailed letter to customer service about what's been going on. The lady who called me (left a message--I was asleep when she called) was very upset about how I was being treated.

Get this, they didn't even put my order in UNTIL Nov 23rd! Even though I asked to order one back in Sept! WTF? So, I can't wait to talk to her and get things settled. She even mentioned it should never take 2-3 weeks--it's supposed to be seven to ten AND they don't send your pin separate from the card--you set up your new pin with customer service.

Someone dropped the ball on this one and I was getting tired of being messed with. So I hope when I am able to get in contact with this woman that things can be squared away.

I would like it if they would OVER NIGHT me a goddamn card and I'd like to know WHY they didn't even bother ordering me a new one! I was surprised to receive a phone call from Customer service so soon. They really take the complaints seriously. And I was not rude about it--I simply told them what was going on.

It's nice that it all got fixed, but you still should dump this bank for another one. If you want to avoid a million more headaches like this in teh future.

You put in a request to cancel the old card and have a new one issued.

Not only did they refuse to do it, they treated you like you were stupid and then... only AFTER you above their heads... did they unfuck themselves.

Yeah. I don't see any good reason to trust them with finances. (In all honesty... I'm surprised you even waited a single month, let alone three)

Sadly this is the best bank out here so far... We've had problems everywhere else. We've always had such great prompt service except for this. But I have the damn card finally. I should've gone to their website and complained a long time ago! I can't believe I waited that long either but they kept reassuring me it would be here. *sigh*

Ditty what giggity said, this bank has dropped the ball in a massive way and it's clear that they aren't overly serious in picking it back up.
personally, I'd say go with a credit union that is part of the co op network, you get the service of a local bank, but the atm network that dominates even the biggest chains.

Hopefully when you get it and call to activate it, the activation will happen the same day instead of more days of waiting. I would think you would just get money out at the bank while you're there that could last you a while. I feel that when I'm without my ATM card, I'm less likely to buy anything.

That's totally unacceptable. You need to close out your account with that bank & get an account somewhere else that treats its customers with more respect than that one. BUT FIRST you need to arrange a meeting with the head honcho & voice your displeasure on the way you've been treated. Heads will roll once you do that.
