  • I think I was an SC yesterday :(

So last night I went to Victorias Secret and I had a bunch of coupons with me that I wasn't sure if I could use together or on certain products so when a girl came over and asked if I needed help I showed her all my coupons and what I was planning on buying and asked what coupons I could use. She told me I could use all of them and I asked if I could use them all together and she replied that I could.
THEN I get to the register and they tell me I can only use one of the three coupons at a time or per purchase. I admit it I saw red. I don't think I showed it though, but I was pretty mad that I confirmed it prior to standing in line only to be told something different. I told them that one of the employees said that I could use them all together. The manager (I think) told the cashier to go ahead and do it since I was told that, but then the register wouldn't let them do all three. I still got two of them, which was ok (I would have been ok with just one IF I had been told that from the get go).
It made me feel so sucky to have to argue with them and then when they asked which employee told me I wasn't able to point her out, because I didn't see her anymore. I gave a really vague description, but I could tell they thought I was lying.
It was so embarassing, because there was a long line and everyone was looking at me. I didn't raise my voice or do anything to draw attention to myself, but I could tell that everyone heard.
I'm still pretty mad at that first girl though. I mean, really? If you don't know the answer to a customer's questions ASK someone that does! I would have been perfectly happy if she had said they needed to be seperate.

    No worries. It happens.

We may only showcase the more often case, which is the SC lying, but we're all aware on this site that there are plenty of sucky employees. And that's why this section exists. You weren't lying.

You were certainly not an SC. And, with Vicky's prices, I can only go there with a coupon or freebie card.

Problem is she may think she knows. It happens all the time at my work. We get associates who watch us do all kinds of things to drop the prices on purchases so they think they know what we do on register. So they mention it to the customers. Who get told...no by us because there are limits to what we can do too. But because the associate thinks they've done right, and I'll probably never find out who told the customer the wrong thing, it'll be perpetuated. At least until I track the offender down and strangle them

Anyway, it was probably a misunderstanding, but sounds like you were fine in standing your ground.
