I heard this from Hubs who heard this from his boss who heard it from his boss' boss, so I don't know the finer details, but I got the gist of it.
Hubs found out that his security company just landed a nice, new, juicy contract with one of the local ports.
The Big Boss for the company went to the port for a meet 'n greet to discuss the contract. The port contacted him because they weren't happy with their current security company for some reason.
Big Boss pulled up to the guard shack. The guard was in there reading a book, and didn't acknowledge Big Boss at all. After a few minutes, Big Boss honked his horn. The guard looked up, rolled his eyes, and came out.
Guard asked what Big Boss wanted. Big Boss told the guard who he was and what he was there for. The guard had a "whatever" attitude and waved Big Boss through. No checking ID's. No logging the visit in the log book. Nothing.
I told Hubs that Big Boss must have had the easiest sales pitch ever, with crappy competition like that!
