LillFilly, I forget if you're one of the security personnel there or not. Either way, can Security issue littering fines?

If you can... The perfect time would be, after noting who did it, go into their store and say the Mall is finally handling the littering problem. They'll likely be happy, if they're the ones complaining about the litter. And then you hand out the fines to each and every employee that was responsible.

I wish! It's private property, so it's kind of a grey area. When I've caught people (non-employees) dumping and had real evidence, I was able to call the police, but there's no way our Corporate would let me do that to tenant employees. Mostly, I watch who does it, give a list to the mall manager, and she has a niiiice long talk with the offenders' store manager. Corporate wants to keep the tenants happy, but the tenants sure don't make it easy! Security has much more power over Customers than Employees.

Oh gosh, that just reminds me of the garbage of doom at the gas station I once worked at. Now, it was a tiny little thing that hung off the side of the wall outside the store.

It was for people who work there for a quick smoke or customers smoking as they walked in. It was NOT for losing lottery scratch offs, cellophane wrappers, tissues, or anything else.

And yet, nearly every day, there was a small fire in there because people didn't care where their garbage went.

This. This is why we can't even leave one outside of our store. Everydamnday the thing flamed up. So we just sweep it up all the time. It's not very convenient but neither was running outside to put out small fires.
I'm sorry, but I've reached my maximum allowable exposure to stupidity limit for the day. I'll have to get back to you tomorrow.

And, to add some salt to the wounds... we really DID have a cleaning crew. However apparently the command couldn't - or didn't like - having to afford to pay them. So this added even more cleaning days on for us.
Sadly when you are in the military you are required to do whatever you are told to do. Add to that the fact that no matter how long you are at work you get paid the same. Then you get commands that realize that they can save a lot of money by having the military people on staff do all there cleaning.

Very few navy commands actually had outside contractors cleaning the buildings. It sucks, but that is the navy way.

I remember a E4 complaining to the duty chief once, Everyone ELSE was treated to a day of no cleaning.

I've probably mentioned this before but, at my university, there's a rule that, if you are actively smoking, you cannot stand within 20 feet of any door going into any building. With how often people break this rule, it may as well not even exist at all. I've seen people smoking right outside the door, seen people smoking on the third-floor patio (that, since it's technically part of the building, is supposed to be a no-smoking area just like the rest of it), and even watched someone walk *into* one of the entryways of a building and throw her cigarette into the trash can that was right by the door. Are black plastic trash bags flammable?
