  • Not really sucky, just a little weird

This happened to me and my boyfriend when we went to Vegas the last time. We always go to this one restaurant, because it is so fantastic. This last time though, was a little strange.

We get there and they sit us at the bar until a table can open up. The bartender asks us if we want anything to drink while we wait and we tell him our drink order. Before he can make it though we are sat at a table. A male server comes and asks us our drink order and we tell him, but mention that we had told the bartender. He walks off to get our drinks.

Then a female server comes up and asks our drink order. At this point we are just confused. I look kind of confused and tell her that we already had our drink order taken, twice. She gets this snarky look on her face and tells us to give her our drink order, because SHE is our server. Okayyy, yeah, sorry lady, didn't realize we were supposed to give everyone else the cold shoulder. The way she said it made it sound like we had just randomly wandered around the restaurant telling people our drink order.

We only wound up with one drink each, so I'm not really complaining. It was just a really weird thing to have happen.

ETA: Almost forgot, we also had one of those gift certificate things from restaurant.com with us and we asked the first server if he wanted it at the start or when we paid and he said to hold on to it until we paid. When the female server came up she saw it on the table and said, "Annndd I'll be taking your certificate now, please."

No, it's sucky. No need for the server to have an attitude.

I agree with sucky. Makes me wonder if employees were trying to steal each others tips, and that's why so many servers were taking your order. I remember working Media Play where we sold those reward cards, and employees would get downright mean trying to yank the sales away from others. Yes, there was reward stealing going on. It's low class to do that in the first place, it's downright awful to let the customer see it.

indeed. if they're fighting with each other that's their own problem.

taking it out on the customers is poor business.

More than just weird....if it was any suckier, it would've worn a blue dress.

Aw, you guys. I guess I put up with a lot from my servers, because they can't be worse than my customers.
It really just made me laugh.

Maybe they split tips based on who served the order? Whatever the reason, it's not your problem and the server shouldn't have been a bitch about it.
