So I have NEVER had a job where customers will make fun of you and totally disrespect you right in front of your face. Many times a day I will be cleaning a room and have customers walk by and laugh and point. I also have assholes knock of the door of their friend and say housekeeping in a foregin voice or just a high sqeaky voice. I FUCKING HATE THAT SHIT.... the friend usually answers and they all just laugh. WTF is wrong with people.

Those who have never worked in any sort of customer service have no clue what we go through. They think we're some sort of lower caste who are working there because we aren't as smart/skilled/human as they are. And they delight in bullying us. It's sick, I agree. A nice long walk in your shoes would be just the cure for their assholery.I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Ah, I remember starting out in housekeeping. Yeah, there's a lot of crap. I remember one room, a guest came in early, so we went to rush and clean it. I opened the door, and was just starting to pick up the trash, when the customer walked up, looked in, and proclaimed "Ugh, that's disgusting, I don't even want this room!" I was thinking yeah, it is disgusting, let me do my job and it won't be by the time you get it, though!
Then there are the creepos who try to lock you in the room with them. That's happened to me twice. Both times, I grabbed my radio in one hand, and my heavy-duty cleaner in the other, and I swear to God if they didn't back off I was going to aim for the eyes. Luckily, they backed off.Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Ugh. That is so rude. I always make it a point to say hello or good morning to housekeeping, or anyone, anywhere I go. You (and they) are still people, no matter what their job is. Absolutley no reason to treat them like they're not. Especially when you hear stories about what housekeeping finds and has to deal with when cleaning the roo Working in retail I know how badly some people treat employees, and I will never do that.

although not customer related, i know someone like that... she would insult others and then use that as an excuse to justify her own bad behaviorQuoth Raveni View Post
Um, apparantly, I can't just leave my reply as that, so I'll also say that if people degrade you, they see you as less of a person and will not feel as bad for not tipping.

Never piss off housekeeping. Period.
Also, would it be at all possible for you to move those assholes' rooms to the very end of your to-do list? Maybe having to put up with a dirty room for as long as humanly possible will teach them a lesson? (Not holding my breath on that one, though. You can't teach idiots lessons.)

I hope you told her that.Quoth TruthHurts View PostBack in my housekeeping days, a woman walked by me with her daughter and loudly said "See honey, this is what happens if you don't stay in school."
The kicker was I took that job to help pay for my college. The best professors are mad scientists! -Zoom

There is nothing wrong with making an honest living from a physical job. Not everybody can be an office worker; someone's got to do the day-to-day stuff to keep things running. That does not make that person a lesser being.
