Funny...if she isn't ever going to come back I wonder where she's going to go if an emergency requiring medical attention happens to her. Oh well...I'm not bothered by that. Anyways, what a bitch. Both her and the older daughter. Common sense tells you not to use a cellphone in a hospital unless you are permitted to. Then again common sense isn't so common.

any manufacturer of hospitol gear that was actually interfered with by cell phone transmissions would be guilty of gross negligence. it's just like laptops and walkmans on planes (not like cell phones on a plane though)

no modern safety critical gear would be so shoddilly constructed that a tiny cell phone transmitter could do a thing to it. the reason you aren't allowed cell phones on planes is that a cell phone moving between so many towers and being in range of so many towers can screw up the cell network, not a danger to the plane itself.

however it is unlikely that the girl knew this, and even if she did there are signs saying no cell phones, so no f$%^$ cell phones.

While it is unlikely that a cell phone would actually disrupt any sensitive equiptment in a hospital or on a plane, it is possible for a cell phone signal to cause this equiptment to malfunction if there is damage to the shielding around the wires. This is why cell phones are not allowed around sensitive equipment no matter what.
The only words you said that I understood were "His", "Phone" and "Ya'll". The other 2 paragraphs worth was about as intelligible as a drunken Teletubby barkin' come on's at a Hooter's waitress.

hmmm where will they go when one of them is deathly ill?
Oh, they'll call their local Walgreens and get mad when the pharmacist tells her that he is unable to diagnose her problem, and that she should probably go to an ER.
We get waaaaaaaay too many calls like that daily.

As for the cell phone issue, they may or may not interfere with the machinery, but honestly, do we want to take that chance? Of course not. Besides, cell phones are not conducive to privacy regulations, either, which is why they have no business around patient areas. In waiting rooms they're fine, I got a lot of mileage on mine while Dad was in ICU, but I never answered it in his room or on the wing. Always went back to the waiting area.

There's also a lot of resistance from frequent flyers who don't want to be stuck stitting next to someone chatting on their phone for the whole trip (and airlines make $$$ on people who use the plane phones). My mom works in a hospital and cellphones aren't banned except in certain treatment areas and wards.

Actually, Mythbusters tested this (I even watched the episode). Some cell phone frequencies in popular use do actually interfere with and alter readings on navigational equipment in an airplane, especially if it isn't shielded properly. This is why you're also not allowed to use wireless features with your laptop/PDA/etc. on a plane. I actually listened to the announcements the last time I flew. They said that the use of certain electronic equipment was okay (once we reached the right altitude), but to disable the wireless feature on them. My cell phone has an airplane mode that does the same thing, so I can play with the calendar or the phone book or the games without running the risk that my phone is going to send or receive calls. I may not have a phone with the right frequency for messing with the equipment, but I may and don't want to take that chance.

Did the 12 year old daughter dress like a little hooker? wearing like about 80,000,000 pounds of make up?

OMG, that ACTUALLY makes sense to me... for a kids hospital at least. Getting your shots is nicely balanced out by a frozen treat. Not to mention the tonsilectomies.
