That is another option, numeric juxtaposition.

I have been known to look at a piece of paper with a phone number on it, and read it off out loud with two numbers juxtaposed. It gets worse the more tired or frustrated I get, especially if the numbers are close, like the 83/86/65 combos. I will be absolutely convinced that I got it correct too.
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.

I had a wrong number call this weekend that went without incident. It's too bad she didn't stay on the phone longer. She sounded hot.

I used to get phone calls where I'd answer the phone and be greeted with someone speaking Spanish. I'd tell them sorry wrong number. I was pissed at whoever it was giving out the wrong number. Few times I got calls from jail. Sorry, not accepting charges for that. At my current number I've gotten a few calls from people who bought stuff from some store that had shoddy workmanship. Sorry about that, not my fault though.
I would have a nice day, but I have other things to do.

I get calls every now and then on my landline for someone looking for Inez. Who I gather is a deadbeat since its only collection agencies and law firms. I even changed my voicemail greeting but as most of the calls are automated, it does no good. the funny thing is the automated voice garbles her name so badly i can't even tell what her last name really is!

they come in spurts, so every now and then I call back the number and tell them hey, someone called looking for her, she doesnt' live here, i don't know here and this isn't her number so please correct your records. they ar always very pleasant which is nice, and they stop, then they'll start up again. i suspect someone has my number down as hers, and it just gets passed around from collection agency to agency.

I've had people calling for John something. I finally got them to stop calling when I answered a call from a PA number (I live in Maryland, lots of people here are from PA and/or have PA numbers). The dude asked for John and I (with barely concealed anger in my voice said) 'There is no one by that name at this number.' They have yet to call back. Thanks deity.
I added my roommate to my plan back in January and she's already gotten a couple wrong numbers. And since she hasn't set up her voicemail yet (she doesn't really need to for now) the few times she's missed unknown numbers they couldn't leave a message.
(We answer just about all calls from any number with one of the two main Baltimore area codes in case it's someone we need to talk to... Case in point my new doctor's office called Monday morning to set up my appointment.)
