  • WOW! Just... WOW!!

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I'm glad it didn't crush your soul completely, and you were able to find the silver lining!

I have to say, the way you wrote the story was extremely entertaining, you definitely know how to hook an audience! Do you by chance write on a regular basis, I mean besides your posts here!

I reckon you've got enough ideas out of this story alone for a horror novel!!!

Thankyou again for sharing! EPIC doesn't even begin to describe it!

No, not really, lol. I have a few little scrap stories I write on every once in a while, but they're just...whenever I get the urge to write. XD Thank you though, lol.

      • Seraph, Thank you for the incredible story, and I am so glad it worked out so well for you in the long run.

And thank you for posting it here, because I'm sure that the information in it could be very helpful for someone who runs into a similar situation in the future.

        • i found a good link there just now too...

          minimum notice requirements by state

Apparently if your landlord/lady wants to enter to inspect they have to legally give notice. How much notice depends on the state - and some states have none or "reasonable notice".

In my state I see it's 2 days... however where I live they give 7 days notice usually.

Good on you for helping karma give these assholes just what they deserved
And please feel free to share more, looking forward to more epic tales!

            • A suitably climactic ending to a tale of epic proportions... so when's the sequel? (The hockey masked guy is never really dead and the dog always escapes his evil master)

Er, thanks; I hadn't noticed I had spilled my drink in all this frothing at the mouth for more parts of the story

And also, hi and welcome to the boards, matchstickman.
              Thanks.
It's good to see that the tale had a happy ending, and I don't mean getting me to open an account here!

              • Wow. Just finished the story.

I'd call him a complete, utter, dick, but that would be unfair to dicks. At least they have a use.

Slumlords are why rental housing should be inspected regularly by authorities. The sewage issue makes me thing the place was not up to code.

A call to Code Enforcement or the Health Department would have fixed that one

                • Just another reminder...as Peppergirl has already said, we've had numerous nominations for this thread as a war story.
                  It's under discussion.

(We've had to remove or edit several posts as well because the proper nominating procedure wasn't followed, so I think a reminder of "How to nominate a War Story" is in order.)

You can nominate a post or tale for War Story status, but do it privately to a moderator, please. Don't contact several moderators, or repeatedly argue for a War Story status - we'll get annoyed if you do. If you get told 'no', we mean 'no' - don't be offended, since it's probably going to happen to many tales.

I know this is posted elsewhere in another thread, but I think a refresher is in order, as it comes up from time to time, and there seems to be confusion about the war story process.

First and foremost, we ask that people do not post within the thread itself to nominate a story.
It may seem petty to some, but the reason for this is very simple.
We want to avoid hurt feelings if a story does not make it to the War Story forum.

If the mod team doesn't feel a story makes the grade as a War Story, but there have been all kinds of posts within a thread calling for it to be made a War Story, there can be resentment.

The proper procedure for nominating a War Story is to PM a mod, or report the thread and post your nomination as the reason for the report.
You must be very clear and very specific about why you feel it makes a good War Story.

                  <snip>

Again, we just ask that it be done privately, away from the thread.
Also, because we do not allow commenting in the "War Story" forum, we do not move stories to that section until the thread dies down on the main board.

That is to allow people time to make their comments because, once a story becomes a "War Story" the main thread gets closed.

                  So, bear with us.

We are getting the reports and nominations.
                  We are discussing it.

If a decision is made to make this a "War Story", you may not actually see any results for quite a while, as this is a very popular thread at the moment.

                    • Well dang, now I want to hear the story about how you got on the college's bad side.

But awesome, epic story, Seraph. Totally puts the "ghetto-fabulous" complex I once lived in in perspective (not that I had anywhere near this level of problems).
