one of the last flights i took the airline was offering "upgrades" to seats with more legroom.

i turned it down and ... ended up getting more legroom anyway. I was seated next to one passenger from a father-son pair and was asked if I minded trading seats.

The new seat was in the emergency exit row so... yay more legroom. which got me wondering if the 'upgrade' they'd been offering was in fact emergency exit seats.... sneaky but *shrug*

I bet it was. On the last flight I was on they want to charge me an extra $50 or so to sit in the exit row. First time I've encountered that.

One time when I was going to visit my mom I was on a sold out flight, I went to sit down and the woman sitting next to me started flipping out, and insisted I had to trade seats with her husband, who was up in first class. For the record, I am rather large, and while she didn't say anything specifically about that, I got the distinct impression that it was my size she was objecting to. I might have been a stubborn bitch and refused to move, at least until she asked me politely, but I'm not stupid enough to turn down a free upgrade to first class.

It's not actually funny if it was in fact your size she was objecting to, but really, did she think it was some kind of penalty to demand that you take her hubby's first-class seat?? (I'm wondering if she was PO'd to begin with that he was in 1st class and she wasn't.)
I think Pix is right. The woman was pissed offed because her husband left her in coach. Any look she gave you would have been given to anyone because of what he had done. I pity the guy when they got home.

Did he book the flight telling her that because they were married someone in first class would give up their seat and move to coach so that a husband and wife could sit together? I could see that happening, and then she got mad because she told him that it wouldn't work and that she would find someone to take his first class seat.

My assumption was that it was a sold out flight, and they got their tickets late.

            HAHAHA! XD

On a flight recently, I think they may have made a booking error. My boarding pass had an error of some sort, and when I was boarding, the new one they issued me still beeped angrily on the way through. Then it seemed that my seat had changed...

I was in the emergency exit seating. And I have to say, after travelling from London to Atlanta all that time in teeny seats, having the extra legroom was HEAVEN! I swung my legs back and forth like a kid XD I wonder what poor sod got stuck in my seat? XD
