Never quiet understood the overprotectiveness..but I am not a parent so...

When I was growing up, I could fall down the stairs..(I was a clumsy kid)..my parents would dust me off, see that there was no blood..and send me out to play. If I was really hurt, they would take care of me, but otherwise..they realized kids are tougher then they seem.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

Maybe she thought the baby was just going to get freaked out? Though the reaction was a bit over the top, more so since the baby was just 'eh, whatever'

...I'm guilty of making the little guy cry like that once, he was playing and I tossed I think it was a balled up shirt or one of his smaller stuffed animals while he was crawling, landed besides him and the response was pretty much a 'OMG WTF was that!? -bawls-' Felt like such a jerk.
Okay everyone, lets all point and laugh at him right about....

      Now.

        Wow, what a nut.

I wish that baby the best of luck...he/she'll need it.

O/T, sorry: I don't get much time around babies. What is tummy time? It sounds adorable

Yeah, she thought you needed to discipline "your" kids; a simple "they're nothing to do with me" would have stolen her thunder.

That will set kids off more than anything else.

It's why one of my coworkers has kids that are scared of needles. she acted all "OMG OMG OMG" whenever they got shots.

You're supposed to put very young babies on their tummies so they have to raise their heads to see stuff. It helps strengthen their neck muscles (you have to hold their necks when you pick them up for a couple months or their heads flop all over). It is kind of cute sometimes, to see these little kids with oversized heads and big eyes peering around like myopic bush babies.

I was a little overprotective of Khan (firrst kid and all) but after he fell off the couch at 4 months and was totally OK I was over it. He's a freaking mutant, he has Wolverine healing powers. Scrapes and bruises heal in about 4 days usually.

You should have said to her since she made it clear she wanted you to say something "I think it's really great that you apologized to your baby for being silly enough to put her in the middle of the floor where kids play. A lot of Moms would just quietly move the baby into a safer corner area and not even apologize to the poor little critter."
                  Love this answer

Geez, talk about over-reacting. I've seen these moms at playgroups. Some child bops junior on the toe with a stuffed toy, junior either giggles or ignores it, til drama mum swoops in, wailing and screaming, at which point her reaction makes junior figure there's a reason to cry, so he does. At that point, drama mom starts screaming "your child made my precious cry" and tries to get other child kicked out of group.

                  Madness takes it's toll....
