  • Wish I could have set them on fire. . .

So today Mrs, Rainman, baby Rainman and I were out and about and we stopped for lunch at a Coney Island (love me some chili dogs ) We had just been seated and another family (Dad, Mom, and very unkept child (sad)) was seated in the booth across from us. I had noticed that the last people at the table had left their cash tip there and the server hadn't gotten around to getting it yet. Before these f**kwads even sat down I heard the mom say "oh! free money!" and pockets the tip!

This is just wrong on so many levels, and having been a server for awhile myself, it pissed me right off.

Rainman: Excuse me, maybe you aren't aware, but that's the server's tip from the last people at this table.

Shitty Mom: Well what she doesnt know wont hurt her will it? (gives me a death glare)

Rainman: Really? You are stealing that person's money, that's all this is you know.

Shitty Dad: Mind your own business asshole, if you know whats good for you.

Their server comes up at this point and before HE can say anything. . .

Mrs. Rainman: Excuse me sir, you should know these people stole your tip that was on the table.

    Server looks at Shitty Family,

Server: Folks, I saw the money on the table already. I just havent had time to get to it yet, I'll thank you to hand it back to me now.

Shitty Mom digs money out of her pocket and tosses it on the table (bitch)

SM: Here! we were just keeping it safe for you, I can't believe you thought we would steal it!

Rainman: Riiiiiiiiiiiight, what happened to "what they dont know wont hurt them" and me minding my own business? They were stealing your tip man.

Server: Folks, I think it would be best if you left now.

Shitty Family hems and haws for a minute, a manager gets involved but they are still kicked out.

Shitty Dad: I'll be waiting for YOU (points at me) in the parking lot asshole. (Note: this guy is maybe 5'5 and looks like he would be 140 pounds soaking wet, I wouldn't be too worried even if he DID wait for me, considering I am much bigger than him and I have a concealed carry permit, which I take advantage of daily )

    Rainman: (laughs) No you wont.

He didn't wait for me. lol

Stealing tips. . . or trying to, I hope those people get theirs someday.

Down where I was raised (when I was young) that would have likely gotten sucky family shot. Was nothing worse then a thief. Times..they have changed. Thanks for letting the server know they took the tip..a lot of people wouldn't have.

Kudos to you for letting the server know about the attempted theft ... and to the manager for (apparently) backing up his/her staff and kicking these jerks out. This is why I no longer leave cash tips on the table; I do my best to track down my server and give it to him/her personally.

Well, this just confirms my belief that some people are total shits. But props to you for letting the server know.

for letting the server know what they did and getting them kicked out. They don't need arsehole customers like that. That's lower than dirt, what the SC family did there.

Good on you for telling the server. I wonder how many other servers were ripped off by those jerks. I wonder how they are going to feel when their kid starts stealing money from them because of the example they set.

That, of course, will be somebody else's fault ... maybe the school's, for not teaching their kid proper morals ...

Good for you. Kudos to the manager also. I could just see "Let me give you a free meal because my employee was soooo rude."

I neglected to mention it during the OP, but the manager was pretty spineless actually At first he wasn't really going to do anything about it, saying that the people probably had meant well (bullshit) and since Server had his money back what was the harm? Server just laid into him right there and said flat out he was not going to serve these people. Alot was said by all parties but eventually Manager caved to his own employee instead of the SCs

                    glad you stepped in.

cos hey, that man worked hard for his tip. those shitfucks have no right to try to steal it. they're lucky the cops weren't involved.

I always worry about something like that happening, so I try my best to either put the tip on my credit card or give it directly to the server.

You didn't have to set them on fire, they pretty much burned themselves by their own stupid actions.

Thank you for standing up for the server.

You left out the part where the tip included a five (or ten) dollar bill.

Excellent work. I'm glad you were willing to speak up. Most people wouldn't have said anything.

I suppose it's foolish to hope that Shitty Family learned a lesson that day.

Meh, then Rainman would have been no better than the Shitty Family.

Good on ya, Rainman, for sticking up for the server like that! And extra props for just laughing off the Shitty Dad's threat.
