  • Learn to work the cash register!

I debated complaining to corporate about this. I used to work at a different store and the in-store GM registers have the same setup.

Anyway, I am entering in my cell phone number under the "promotion" button on the card reader. This promotion tracks your purchases and offers coupons. It has been going on in the region since last May and has been going on at all stores in the medium-size chain since last July.

Crappy gas station worker: "It didn't take your card!!!"
    Me: "I didn't enter a card."
CGSW: "It didn't take your card!"
    Me: "I'm entering 'promotion'"
    CGSW: (mangles promotion's name)
    Me: "No, promotion.
    CGSW: (mangles it again)
Coworker of CGSW: CGSW, it's promotion.
    CGSW: Shrugs it off.

Now, this is where there was a mistake. I was distracted telling the guy about it that I entered my promotion's pin and not my debit pin. Okay, it rejects it so we go to process it again with the right pin.

Me: It's not asking for cash back.
    CGSW: Hit yes to confirm.
Me: It's not the right amount.
    CGSW: Hit yes to confirm.
    Me: I want cash back.
    CGSW: Hit yes to confirm.

So I go and hit yes. The transaction finishes. He proceeds to claim it didn't give him a choice. Ummmm, no. It did give him a choice however he clicked through the fucking choice. I know those registers. So I throw a fit and I want my money back. He does give it back thankfully.

I am thinking about emailing corporate about this. I was so pissed I went into the store and finished my transaction since I was really treating the store like an ATM. I knew that the bottles was 2x as much in the gas station than they would be in the store. Maybe he's new, but in that instance they shouldn't have him running the registers by himself.

Complain. Sounds like even his co-workers were (are) sick of him.
