I'm posting this here because, while it happened at my work, I came in on the tail end of the situation and had to hear the complete story from others.
It all started when a woman between 25-35 years old walks into our store. Her first action is to ask the cashier if we have wheelchairs. Yes, we do, for sale - not for customers to use while they're shopping (we're a pharmacy, I don't know why, that's best left for fratching). Well that wasn't good enough .. "I need a wheelchair! You HAVE to provide them!!!!!!!!!" This will be important later.
Okay whatever. She and her group (older man and youngish woman were with her) walk down aisle 1. All of a sudden, she "feels like she's going to faint". Salesperson grabs a chair for her. No, that's not good enough, she needs to lie down on the floor (WTF? the floor is DIRTY, probably a hundred people walk on it a day until we sweep and mop). And then the shenanigans begin......
"I need a drink!!!!!!!!!!" Youngish woman, who we found out was her daughter, gets it for her - not sure if it was paid for. "I need some chips!!!!!!!!!!" Again, daughter gets it for her, again not sure if it was paid for.
Remember, she is spread-eagle in aisle 1, a crowd has gathered. "I need lotion rubbed on my legs!!!" Well the hell we certainly weren't gonna DO THAT!!!!!!!!" Shift lead (who has been called when this started) says, "Ma'am, you are welcome to lay there until you feel better, but could you please scoot over to the side, you are blocking the entire aisle?" OMG she goes off!!!
"I can't do that! I am sick, you HAVE to take care of MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Shift lead says "I am sorry you're sick Ma'am and we're trying to accommodate you, but there are other customers I have to attend to".
"I have a disease!!! I am going to DIE in TWO days!!!!!!!!!!" At which point, another customer tapped Shift lead on the shoulder and says "if I was gonna die in two days, I would be at the beach, not here" LOL
Now, the older guy that was with her springs into action, pulling salesperson off to the side. "I am her grandfather. She is actually (he bolded it with his voice, KWIM?) crazy. This all started when we were at Aldi's (a grocery store about 1.5 miles from our location). She wanted to use my cell phone and I wouldn't let her because she always runs up huge bills. This is a temper tantrum because she's been off her meds. She walked away from us at Aldi's and walked all the way here, we followed her in the car." This is the woman who berated our cashier because we didn't a wheelchair for customer use???????????????
Shift lead thanks the man for his information, motions to salesperson, and they walk away. Lo and behold, the woman gets up and walks out of the store.
WTH?????
