  • Complaint my co-worker received

This incident happened in the bathroom at the main office where the parking company we both work for is located.

He was in the bathroom stall having a painful bowel movement. He told me that when this happens, he makes groaning noises. It was so painful for him that he was groaning enough for someone else who was in the same bathroom to complain to the parking company General Manager.

Apparently the person saw the company logo on his workshirt while he was washing his hands.

So the person complained to the General Manager, who is a female. She e-mailed our immediate supervisor, who spoke to him about the incident. My co-worker explained to our supervisor exactly what happened.

Whut??? How are this man's intestinal issues anybody else's business? Maybe he has IBS, or a great love of cheese?

Did the complainer think he was doing...something else?

Well of course she complained, you have to nip these things in the bud. If you start allowing your employees to be ill when at work, they might expect even more outrageous things, like food or water during a work day, or time off for surgery, or any manner of things that should be reserved for human beings, not workers

      Madness takes it's toll....

Wait a minute. "She" complained about "him" in the bathroom, when she saw him washing his hands? Is the sink in a public area? Or was she just hanging around to gawk and get a look at your coworker? Maybe your coworker should complain about a creepy lady hanging around the mens room.

Though I have to wonder, how does one even complain about that? "Um, I was near the mens room and I was offended by the sounds of someone taking a dump". Good grief.

The way I read it, the "she" is the General Manager: the Sensitive One complained to the General Manager and the GM (she) emailed snugglegirl and CW's immediate supervisor.

I wonder if they interpreted the groaning as sexual in nature and that's why they're complaining. Either that or they're upset that a mere employee was using the same facilities as they!

You've got to be shitting me! Pun fully intended. What did the Manager say after hearing your coworkers side? Can they email the complainer back with a polite "eat shit"?

Which says to me it's a medical issue. And therefore it isn't something they can punish him for.

I mean seriously, who the fuck takes shit like that seriously? "your employee had a noisy poop - punish him!"

i just hope he doesn't get punished. cos that in my opinion can be taken to HR as harassment.

no one should be micromanaged in how they poop

I pray he doesn't get punished either. I suffer IBS, and when in public I grit my teeth to keep from SCREAMING sometimes, let alone having a groan slip out accidentally.

You know that co-worker could claim to be a sexual harassment victim, as the customer apparently ASS-U-MEd that what he was doing was sexual in nature when in fact it was a medical condition. Just a thought...

I have IBS and I can feel for the guy. I once got evaluated at work and on my list of no-no's I got told that I am in the bathroom a lot. The supervisor who did this got into deep shit. Love the puns...

Cuz I went to her boss and told her how embarrassed I was that something like that was mentioned and how I had tried to call HR and ask if I needed a doc's note like I'm in high school again or something. Well, let me tell you they do NOT want complaints for stuff like that in HR and it got pulled off my evaluation immediately. They're lucky cuz I did call the doc and get a note. Lucky for them I called HR on a day that nobody picked up the phone.

That co worker should go to his HR and tell them what happened if they pursue the matter. Maybe they'll freak like mine did.
