Quoth PepperElf View Postand some SCs will expect you to go to the bank to accommodate them.
cos it's too hard for them to go, so the store employees have to be their personal bank-errand servants

Many years ago in college before cell phones my car would not start so I went to the common room to use the pay phone. The change machines were out of order so I asked the cashier at the campus snack bar if she could break a dollar. She said no so I bought a 25 cent bag of chips which I gave to her and used the 75 cents to call a tow truck.Quoth lupo pazzesco View PostKid: Can you break my 20?
Me: Sure, if you buy something.
K: Uh...do you have anything for 25 cents??
Me: Nope.
K: *ends up rummaging around and buying a $1.50 soda*
Me: *gives him $18 in ones and 50 cents in nickels.
K: *stares at me*
Me: *smiles sweetly* Sorry, it's first thing in the morning, I did tell you I don't have a variety of change in my till...
I win!
I'm glad you weren't at my campus; I don't think the pay phones would take nickels.
I have hundreds when:Quoth Draper Mel View PostPersonally, I don't understand the need for people to have $100 bills other than to show off. I hate having even $50s. With debit cards, there's really no need to carry much cash, anyway.
1) I just came back from vacation. I take some large bills on vacation and break them as needed so I’m not walking around with a wallet stuffed with smaller bills.
2) When I get a cash gift for a B-Day or Christmas it’s often a $50 or a $100.
3) When I am paying cash for a high ticket item or someone is buying a high price item from me in cash I will often use or receive large bills.
I usually break large bills at the supermarket but I ask the cashier first and if they don’t have a drawer stuffed with $20’s waiting for a manager to do a pick up then I pay with a debit card. You'll find a slight squeeze on the hooter an excellent safety precaution, Miss Scrumptious.

I hate with a passion beyond words when people pay with a $50 or $100 bill for a small purchase and have the gall to tell me "I just got it from the bank!!" with a shit eating grin. Every bank I've dealt with has ALWAYS asked me what denomination I want my cash in. If you don't want big bill, just ask for small ones. Why is that so hard?I'm bringing disdain back...with a vengeance.
Oh, and your tool box called...you got out again.

My bank will ask me if large bills are OK if I withdraw a large amount of money in cash, like I did a couple of weeks ago before I went on vacation. If the answer is yes, then I take them, if not I ask for 20's. Going on vacay, I prefer $50's because they are easier to carry around, and I planned to exchange them for local currency when I got at my destination anyway.Quoth Draper Mel View PostPersonally, I don't understand the need for people to have $100 bills other than to show off. It's fairly normal to get €50 notes (worth about $60 at the moment, used to be rather more) from a bank withdrawal over here, if you're withdrawing enough at once. However, I think there are also a lot of ATMs stocked only with €20 notes.
The trick of course is that if you're withdrawing that much at a time here, you're usually about to buy something big enough that making change for it is easy.
