  • At a "Themed" park

One of the things Little Bits and Z Man had chose to do on vacation was a themed park that offered an all day pass for unlimited go karts and mini golf. The price was great, It cost less then paying for two rounds of mini golf for the whole day, not counting the go karts.

They had an on site restaurant that was not too over priced. It was overall a good day, with the following exception.......

The day that we went, they had bussed in four buses of kids from a day camp from a near by big city. These kids thought that since they were there as part of a group that they did not have to wait in line for anything. The only time I had to deal with them was when I went to get an all day free refill drink bottle. Several of these kids (they had special arm bands on that got them a preset free meal) pushed in front of me and several others to demand their free meals.

I heard that Little Bits and Z Man also had run ins with them while waiting to ride some of the go karts.

I have no problem telling kids to move to the back of the line, to get out of the way, to stop doing X/Y/Z.

Before I had one of my own, I wasn't nearly as comfortable with it, but since I've been around kids more my patience has dropped and my irritableness has risen dramatically.

And you have some survival instinct.

I don't. I'd have still popped off at them with the whole, "I might not be your mother, but you will behave around me or get your butt swatted" attitude. And it gets worse when the ones they're pushing about are littles.. no, no, no. Mamma taught me to make sure littles got their turn and I've ingrained it into my kid.

I'd have found out who was running the group and had a nice LOUD chat with them about their kids behavior in the park.
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.

We used to get an awful lot of foreign exchange students in the summer in my old home town, which was a dump... Probably cheaper for the kids to get sent there than any of the more major cities I guess.

Anyway, one time I was waiting in line at Maccy Ds when this horde of backpack-bedecked students comes roaring in & tries to march straight up to the counter, past me and the dozen or so others in various queues either waiting to be served or in the process of being served.

I just grabbed onto the bag of one that passed me & said "we have a system in this country, it's called 'queuing'." I have been told I can be quite intimidating (even when I don't mean to be) and this poor kid blanched & signalled all his friends that they really needed to move behind me...

I got free fries with my order because the staff were so pissed off with the students always trying to push to the front.

Last saturday I did tell a kid they needed to go to the end of the line. 100 plus outside and she decided she was to good to wait in line at the event I was at and yelling at the poor kid behind the counter how rude he was being. So I stepped out of line and informed her she was the one being rude yelling at an adult when he was waiting on a line of people that had been there before her and she needed to go to the back.
