  • So Embarrassing

I went to a certain Coat Factory to buy myself a suit. They had nice jackets and skirts on the Clearance rack, so I chose two that matched pretty well (their original matches were missing, which is why I assume they were on the Clearance rack). I paid, chatted with the cashier, and left.

A few days later, I had to return the outfit for personal reasons. (Nothing wrong with it, I just didn't need it anymore.) However, when I went to return it, the customer service woman told me that the item didn't match the receipt, and that the tags on both items were apparently switched. I was embarrassed and pissed off, because I knew everyone in the room would now assume that I was the one who switched them.

No one outright accused me of it, and a manager eventually allowed the CS rep to return my money. I was happy, since I had begun to think I was going to be told to leave and wouldn't get my money back.

All I can say is, THANK YOU, asshole thief who switched the clothing tags. How about next time, you go through with your purchase instead of leaving your defiled clothes on the racks?

I hate when people do that and you're the one left quite literally holding the bag.
On a side note, I am amazed you actually got your money back--the certain Coat Factory I know ONLY does returns for store credit, regardless of reason for the return.

Is this some new sort of reverse scam where the store says the tags were switched, so they don't have to give you your money back?
Why do they make Superglue but not Batglue?

Kinda reminds me of when I bought a suit jacket and realized after getting home under different lights that the inside looked wrinkled and it had a stain on the front. Store wouldn't believe I bought it like that. I was pissed. I still have the thing because it fits nice and wearing a scarf covers the stain.

The CS rep told me that the original cashier was supposed to double check when she rang everything up to make sure this kind of thing didn't happen. I don't want to put all the blame on her - the prices seemed pretty standard considering they were both on the clearance rack. It's the thief's fault - no one else's.

Thing is, if you were only asking for what you paid to be refunded... Ah, no, I get it now. Still weird though, and I can understand how distressing it could have been!
