  • I don't have a magic window near my phone, thanks

I'm having car troubles. Failed DEQ and because my car is old, the part needed to fix things is obsolete. The guy at Auto Shop Location A is currently going through pick 'n pull places to find it.

I had a question about the part needed so I looked up their website, it said they were open until 6:00. Called the store and a girl answers.

Me: This is Flybye, you have my car there and I have a question about the part they're looking for

    Girl: Ok, just a minute...

Guy: Hi, how can I help you?

    Me: *explains about car/question*

Guy: Well, this is Auto Shop Location B

Me: sorry, I thought I was calling Location A

Guy: No, this is Location B

Me: ok, thanks I guess I'll try again. *double checks Location A's phone number and hours. Call again.*

    Me: Is this Location A?

Girl: Yes (I didn't recognize her voice)

Me: Well, I have a question about my car.

    Girl: Ok, just a moment...

Guy: Hi, how can I help? (again, I didn't recognize his voice)

    Me: *explains*

Guy (really snotty and patronizing) Well, this is Location B. I can't help you because I don't have your car here, it's at Location A. Location A closes at 5:30. You'll need to call them in the morning.

    Me: apologizes, hang up

Look. I dialed Location A. According to their website, they are open until 6:00. It's not 6:00 yet. How in the name of all that good and holy am I supposed to know that when I dial Location A, Location B is going to pick up. I did my part so if you have a problem with it you need to talk to your people, not take it out on me.

When you DO call them in the morning, you need to bring this up to their manager. The website should reflect what location B is telling you, and the snotty attitude is totally unnecessary.

Perhaps along with Morgana's suggestion... using this line as well.

It's not your fault the phone switches over, or that Shop A has incorrect information on the site. Yes Shop B might be pissy about it but... that's their own problem to address with the higher ups, and not to be taken out on you.

Just wanted to point out that when you double-checked, re-dialed, and ASKED if they were Location A, they said "Yes". Based on this, it was REASONABLE for you to assume you were talking to Location A, so the fucolks at Location B had no reason to get snotty and patronizing.
